Moreover
I think another issue is how the guy gets hit - I.e. Smith was incredible in regards to being able to hit the player in the chest/breadbasket/hands out in front again and again and again
Perenara might pick out the right player - but the pass is often high or low or behind
Makes an enormous difference in the ability of the ball runner to get over the gain line or the ball being able to be spun wide for an opportunity or helping your kicker in his clearance etc

Nuggie was the best passing halfback I’ve seen , I know there have been other great halfbacks , better running games or kicking games perhaps.
But when it comes to distribution, he was the goat .

It would have been great to see what Dave Loveridge could do now if he was 40 years younger. His passing was outstanding too and he was class with ball in hand.

I was only young when I watched him, but Loveridge would probably be A Smith before A Smith. His pass was always spoken highly about

The backline I am hoping to see for both tests is:
Ratima
DMac
Clarke
Jordie
Rieko
Jordan
BeaudenTJP
ALB
ReeceTJP as insurance if Ratima is battling but I think we need Ratima starting to help counter the rush a bit.
Clarke and Jordan are two of the most lethal wingers in world rugby right now, and with Rieko attracting defenders inside them that frees them up a bit more.
Reece would be a bit of a nightmare to defend against coming on fresh with 20 to go.

ReeceTJP as insurance if Ratima is battling but I think we need Ratima starting to help counter the rush a bit.
Clarke and Jordan are two of the most lethal wingers in world rugby right now, and with Rieko attracting defenders inside them that frees them up a bit more.
Reece would be a bit of a nightmare to defend against coming on fresh with 20 to go.
@No-Quarter Like that backline mate, though at this early stage I suspect TJ will start at 9 and leave Ratima for against hopefully tiring team, where perhaps his speed of break may come into play. But genuinely comfortable with whoever starts.

Big loss but with Mighty Williams and Ofa T, the All Blacks have two very solid LHP. Bower, who cannot break into Otago's starting XV this year, will probably hold the bags.

And replaced by more fatties….
Ofa has been used as a finisher in the two England and two Argie tests. Part of that I think has been balancing the experience but also that the blueprint for the props for the future was largely set in the finals of last years RWC.
EdG and Lomax starting with Williams and Newell off the bench. Introduce others as they have done for new blood and keep experience (Ofa) as required. Williams had the family leave earlier so I think that has played a part in Ofa being used off the bench this year.
