@antipodean play it forward two frames after Darry tries to fight forward
Edit: or rather donāt - this picture illustrates my point just as well. Eben canāt know whether Darryās got a knee down.
So he isnāt going to release him unless he gets a call from the ref.
Darry knows his knees hit the deck so he knows heās been tackled.
He needs to release. But he doesnāt.
Penalty Green.

I can't tell if you're trolling or just very stupid.

I'd prefer the former.

Beauden Barrett was dogshit. Why a player with his experience gets a pass for brain dead kicks, not knowing whether its half time, kicks out on the full, kicking the ball away multiple times when chasing the game is beyond me. The saffa wasn't great, but he hardly needed to be to make team of the week.

The bench got criticised but when you look back at the poor exits, BB chip kicks, and the sin bin being cumulative, then it was the players that started who didnāt perform. The exception being Finau who just didnāt listen to ref.
The biggest work on is exits.

Beaudy's two chip kicks in the last two or three minutes were complete madness. You've just got to keep the ball in hand when time is pretty much up and you're chasing the game.
You regularly see teams able to snatch a win by keeping the ball in hand at the death. Speculative chip kicks are just such a low percentage option.

Press pointed out that we are 0-34 in the last twenty mins for the RC. Razor didn't realized 'I'll have a look at that' FFS that's worryingly dumb for a head coach
Is it? Do you expect an AB coach to know every possible statistic that might be thrown his way?
IMO we get much more out of this test than SA. We had that game and we can look at how we finish out the matches.

All you got was a win at home and the Rugby Championship title. We got "learnings".

You could entertain the possibility that I donāt care to trade points on whether the ref got this particular call right and have a reasonable argument that the rule is stupid

We all know he got it hopelessly wrong. It was in front of him, blatantly obvious and not this refereeing teams only howler. They simply weren't good enough to be in charge of a fixture between these two teams.
And the rule is reasonably clear and easy to adjudicate - the worst outcome I've seen lately is being forced to release a tackled player who then gets to flop unhindered across the try line.

@antipodean there you go again about the officiating.
Itās a shit rule for players (and spectators.)
But itās a worse rule the way it is officiated

BB also kicked into touch on the full after taking the ball back, and on the stroke of half time didn't wait for the hooter before kicking into touch. He could have easily cost us more points. We nag him and then he goes and has a great game, like his salvation act vs England

Throwing out Hutchence to distract us from the fact Brace is Welsh isn't going to work.

@pakman said in Springboks vs All Blacks I:
Composite XV from starters: Nche, Taylor, Lomax, Barrett, Vaaāi, Cane, Du Toit, Wiese, Perenara, SFM, Barrett, Ioane, Clarke, Kolbe, Barrett.
No way 4/5 of the best starting front five were in black.
Your front row more or less held on - which I guess is enough to give them 2/3 frontrowers.
I didnāt notice Captain Barrett until Kolbe bounced him. I noticed Vaaāi playing like a TEMU knockoff Flavell. Heās helluva tough as long as heās up against an outside back or when the other blokeās defenceless.
Aside from the interception, Jordie was bang average. DDA made three ruck turnovers (two jackals and driving an AB over the touchline) but he did throw the intercept, didnāt add much in attack (though he wasnāt asked to really) and was a little at sea defensively when he moved out one spot.
Old Barrett was outplayed by Fassi. Comprehensively.

The ABs edged the lineout and starting pack had parity with starting pack in scrums. Boks starters got edge when bench player Etzebeth came on. Then AB starters edged bomb squad Boks in scrum. Ascendency continued when Ofa and Newell arrived, although only a couple of scrums.
Taylor and Lomax offered more around field than Mnonambi and Malherbe.
ABs handled Boks in maul, and hence 4 of 5 fatties with two Boks, although Du Toit selected at blindside.
Balance of starters also chimes with the dominance of ABs in first 60.
Preponderance of Boks on bench reflects the fact that, whilst the Bomb Squad got little change from AB starters, they were clearly superior to AB finishing pack.
Fassiās yellow was an important factor for me.

- Not sure how he found the line.
- He wasn't Kiwi and the ABs were underdogs.
