Is anyone else following The Pacific on TV1? I have just started watching on my recorder. Four episodes in and I'm not connected the way I was with BoB. They seem to be trying to capture too much information; the characters lack richness and depth, so I hope this improves

Get ready for further disappointment there Canes. Sad to say but I thought it was pretty poor tv, narratively and visually. I think the producers pissed the money away on the Gold Coast in between filming in Oz.

A bit harsh Nepia. It certainly wasn't as good as BoB and it probably comes down to not connecting with the characters as much. The last 3 episodes were the best for me, plenty of emotion and action. Worth watching, but maybe only a 6/10

Finished the first series of Sons of Anarchy.

Pretty good series, although I gotta say, so much of Jax's demeanour, including his clothing, doesnt seem to fit with the Biker role he is in, although I guess that's the point.

To me, a few of the characters playing the parts probably dont quite fit, for me OP and Tig are probably 2 of the better cast characters (in terms of thier actions and look) in Samcro

Gemma (Katie Segal) is excellent though.

Just finished watching Pacific and felt it was OK without reaching the heights of BoB. Saw more of Sledge and Basilone in the final few eposodes and their stories were a little more rich but overall most characters were painted with a very light brush. Do any Ferners know Peter Jackson? Perhaps after finishing with the Dambusters he could try and do a NZ BoB. How about one on the maori Battalion anyone?

Yep, i finally watched the end as well, and overall i have to say i was very disappointed. There were some cool battle scenes, but overall, as a series, it was pretty average television (and that is without the easy comparison to BoB).

I think that is the key actually, even without the comparison it wasn't that good. And it seemed to get support just because it's made by the same team that made BoB.

Canefan: Peter Jackson could put up the cash and Taika Waititi could direct a movie on the Maori Battalion. But I've always though that Jackson should make a movie about the NZ Division breakout at Minqar Qaim in June 1942. It's a bloody good story. NZ could have had a whole generation of prominent men wiped out if not for the breakout.

Sounds like a good movie. Get Pete on the blower and tell him its time to do a NZ story. The Pacific tried to cover too much ground and ended up not excelling in any of it. If you're doing a miniseries I think focussing on one unit as they did in BoB would be best. Call it Band of Bro's??

final of Flash Forward...well it was almost a finish that could handle to complete a series, if you didnt delve too deep and looked at only a couple of the main characters.

But there are too many things left hanging with regard to a few main characters...

Generation Kill is screening on TV One 8:30 Monday. If anybody hasn't seen this series then I advise you to watch. It's made by the guys that made the Wire.

BBC Crime Drama Luther just finished up over here. Only saw about half of the 6 episodes by fluke but it was really good. If it comes on tele anywhere else I'd highly recommend.

Think that RT and RC have pumped the show on here before, but I'd also like to give it a thumbs up. Watched "June 17, 1994" last night and it was damn good. It's a continuous montage of tv clips from the day that the NY Knicks played in the finals, the soccer WC was opening in Chicago, Arnold Palmer played his last round at the US Open, the NY Rangers celebrated their Stanley Cup win, MLB was in action, and oh yeah, OJ Simpson went on the run. Recommended, and on youtube. <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
Just finished the complete X-Files (was on The Box 5 times a week)

Some sh!tty ones, some excellent ones, maintained itself for the most part through all 9 series.

A few episodes reminded me of old Twilight Zone stuff, and then some movies I have seen since look like they may have been inspired by some episodes as well.

Pretty decent closure at the end as well, certainly better than some more recent shows.

Only a few ep's in the first season but looks very sharp so far.

Great to see John Noble in something else.

Only concern is its by the same guy who made a certain little show called Lost.....
