TV Serieseseses
Yep, i finally watched the end as well, and overall i have to say i was very disappointed. There were some cool battle scenes, but overall, as a series, it was pretty average television (and that is without the easy comparison to BoB).
I think that is the key actually, even without the comparison it wasn't that good. And it seemed to get support just because it's made by the same team that made BoB.

Canefan: Peter Jackson could put up the cash and Taika Waititi could direct a movie on the Maori Battalion. But I've always though that Jackson should make a movie about the NZ Division breakout at Minqar Qaim in June 1942. It's a bloody good story. NZ could have had a whole generation of prominent men wiped out if not for the breakout. -

Sounds like a good movie. Get Pete on the blower and tell him its time to do a NZ story. The Pacific tried to cover too much ground and ended up not excelling in any of it. If you're doing a miniseries I think focussing on one unit as they did in BoB would be best. Call it Band of Bro's?? -
final of Flash Forward...well it was almost a finish that could handle to complete a series, if you didnt delve too deep and looked at only a couple of the main characters.

But there are too many things left hanging with regard to a few main characters... -
Generation Kill is screening on TV One 8:30 Monday. If anybody hasn't seen this series then I advise you to watch. It's made by the guys that made the Wire.
saw it advertised and thought I'd heard good things about it but couldnt find anything with the search - series linked already -
finished S2 of Sons of Anarchy, really enjoyed it, probably better than S1, got quite intense the final few episodes as well.

Think that RT and RC have pumped the show on here before, but I'd also like to give it a thumbs up. Watched "June 17, 1994" last night and it was damn good. It's a continuous montage of tv clips from the day that the NY Knicks played in the finals, the soccer WC was opening in Chicago, Arnold Palmer played his last round at the US Open, the NY Rangers celebrated their Stanley Cup win, MLB was in action, and oh yeah, OJ Simpson went on the run. Recommended, and on youtube. <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
Just finished the complete X-Files (was on The Box 5 times a week)

Some sh!tty ones, some excellent ones, maintained itself for the most part through all 9 series.

A few episodes reminded me of old Twilight Zone stuff, and then some movies I have seen since look like they may have been inspired by some episodes as well.

Pretty decent closure at the end as well, certainly better than some more recent shows. -
Just started watching Fringe, think its been talked up on here before.
Only a few ep's in the first season but looks very sharp so far.

Great to see John Noble in something else.

Only concern is its by the same guy who made a certain little show called Lost..... -

I also enjoyed the latest 30 for 30 episode, The Two Escobars, which covers the lives of Colombian soccer player Andres Escobar (who scored the own goal in the 94 World Cup) and cartel kingpin Pablo and the links between the lives and murders of both, as well as the links between the drug cartels and soccer in Columbia. The 30 for 30 specials have been bloody well done. -
the 3rd Series of True Blood starts on wednesday at 2130 on Prime in NZ

have seen the episodes 1 and 2 of season 3, it's goooood!!

just made the connection that one of the cool officers in Generation Kill is Eric from True Blood (had to work out the time line on that via google. Generation Kill was made back in 2008). -

I really liked Lost but you've got nothing to worry about. Abrams had barely anything to do with Lost after the first season and I think he's had about as much involvement in Fringe once the show and staff were settled in. -

Watched the one about Len Bias, but the best one I've seen was Reggie vs the Knicks. Those guys really played like they hated one another and it was a time in the NBA when they let them do it. That playoff game when Reggie scored something like 8 points in 30 seconds was one of the greatest playoff moments I can remember -

I still rate the Ricky Williams episode as my fave. Enjoyed the recent one on O.J. too.

I well remember one of my best pals - a huge Celtics fan - on a payphone in Queenstown long-distance call to a buddy when he heard the news Len Bias overdosed. Went out and got drunk. -
Anybody here watch "Destination Truth"? I guess I'm a fan 'cos I've seen most of 'em, and enjoy host Josh Gates' sense o' humour.

I watched one the other night where Gates and his team headed to the Rotorua area looking for the Taniwha. Had to laugh when they get attacked by thick swarm of bugs. (What are those bugs? I've seen sandflies pretty bad in Fiordland, but never anything like the airborne infestation that hit Gates in the North Island.)

Gates and a zoologist conclude the mythical (?) Taniwha is most likely a big eel. The episode is available on youtube, coupled with a creepy feature about a ghost mining town in Chile.

There's also a different (most recent, from late April 2010) episode where he goes looking for the Giant Moa.
I was hosting members from the rock-punk band Drive Like Jehu the night the Rangers won Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final at a bar in Toronto. The band was from San Diego, and clueless about ice hockey, so they were peppering me the entire night to explain the rules to them. They thought it was real exotic. (I rushed out to catch the last set of the Tindersticks afterwards. Toronto stank like a sewer that night.)

The O.J. Bronce "chase" ran opposite the NBA Finals, and I can never forget NBC doing the split-screen showing the live final and OJ. In the 30 on 30 doc, Bob Costas does a good job explaining where the network priority was focused and explaining why they did what they did. Still kinda hard to believe. Even crazier, OJ was an NBC employee at the time, so the broadcasters were watching their workmate on a suicide run. Truly one of the most surreal moments in tv history, even if you weren't a Bills fan. -
