    Speaking of big hitting…….

Here is the scorecard when Lance Cairns went ballistic.

Not sure a player with such a modest batting record has EVER had such an aura…..

Check out the strike rates of some of the guys in front of him ? Fuck me, no wonder he had a slog, they were batting like Geoffrey Boycott in a sedate mood batting for a draw…..Coney with two runs off 23 balls, what the FUCK Jezza ?

    https://www.espncricinfo.com/series/benson-hedges-world-series-cup-1982-83-60826/australia-vs-new-zealand-2nd-final-65354/full-scorecard

By that stage they were desperately trying to not lose anymore wickets.

They were fuck all for heaps chasing what may have well been a billion (yeah, ok they chased 29summat a few weeks earlier v England, but thus was the first time anyone had hit 3-hundy.

Cricket had yet to develop the "oh fuck it" mindset, because white ball was still pyjama cricket, and one did not throw one's wicket away.

Was a depressing watch as a young teenager regardless of Cairns.

Wow, Bangladesh get their first win over Pakistan. Given their history, I'd imagine there's a fair amount of feeling there.

Pakistan started day 5 at 23/1, trailing by about 70 odd, and barely even made Bangladesh bat again (they ended up needing to chase 30). I was sure that was going to meander to a dull draw.

All out for 10 with five ducks! Nation rolled for joint-lowest total in history

Not sure if this is AI generated or not but pretty spot on. You could definitely argue Langer over Warner and Johnson would bat higher than Warne and Cummins but this is an outstanding team. Not sure anyone could compete with this bunch over five tests

Handy team for sure with a few excellent players but Australia would murder them

Holy shit. India went bananas against the Bangles. Days 2 and 3 got rained out, so they rolled Bangladesh for 233 early on Day 4. Then in 34 overs scored 285 runs! That's insanity

All over. The number 11 didn't last long. India 102.

New Zealand win by 58 runs.

A superb win by the White Ferns!

Controversial non run-out of Amelia Kerr will be in the news - run out trying to sneak a 2nd when umpire had passed cap to bowler making it a dead ball. She was out very soon after anyway so no real difference to the game.

    That's a crucial win.

Oz and India were the favoured teams to qualify from our pool and we've really put India on the back foot. If we can avoid slip ups vs Sri Lanka and Pakistan they'll have to beat Oz or go home.

    Well done

( KW would have done it if he’d played as many tests, grumble grumble…..)

Worth pointing out that years ago Martin Crowe predicated KW, Root, Smith and Kohli would be the premier batsmen of their generation. How right he was !! Sad he hasn’t seen his prediction come to fruition, that’s some eerie foresight!

Astonishing season for Joe Root and worthy of all the plaudits coming his way.

Been watching him bat all morning and he's really struggling with exhaustion out there, but has still managed to get 150 off 230 balls.

Pitch is clearly a doddle, but not all pitches he's played on this year have been as easy. A true legend of the game.

England have clearly shown us in this match how not to be intimidated when batting second after conceding 500+.
