Discussions arou dpotential injury replacements in teams like this are quite funny. There is nothing between the players and it is just about fans wanting their guys. Highlanders: withy or Broughton. So the loose forwards are Kirifi, Haig, And Delaney? I suppose Ah Kuoi can cover but on form surely he’s one of the starting locks?

There has to be other players added. Delany doesn't solve the problem of having no no.8, and they won't be able to use someone from the AB squad (e.g., Lakai) in this game.

Flanders, Delaney & Parker added... all cool and well-deserving selections I'd say.

But Corey Kellow? Jesus christ.

Kellow had a decent season, certainly better than Christie. But it does add fuel to the fire about not liking Blues loose forwards. I would have chosen Segner for his utility value.

Grace wasn't even good for the Canterbury bench.

I wouldn't select him but I had to add some Crusaders players in there.

TBF, not being good and Crusaders bench is not really a selection hurdle.

Hate to say it but I don't mind Kellow.

Goes well. Not a bad selection. I'd rate him higher than Kirifi.

I'd have preferred Segner or Withy at seven, not too fussed though.

Goes well. Not a bad selection. I'd rate him higher than Kirifi.

Jeez that's a big call, Kirifi was the difference maker for the Lions, especially against Waikato in the semi. His leadership alone is only matched by a small few in New Zealand. I recall Kellow playing well for Canterbury but not to the extent of Kirifi since he's come back.
