    @Crucial We remember.

It is pretty clear in retrospect that Savea didn't regain form, but just had a really good day. He went back to being meh straight after. We were fooled at the time, of course, but there's no need to stay fooled.

Any player that is good enough to make the ABs might roll out a blinder* on a good day. Sevu Reece, if things go for him, could easily put in a performance like that.

It's not that Reiko can't have a game-winning day in a play-off match. Just that the odds against it are quite high.

[* well, maybe not Caleb Ralph.]

A lot of the polynesian boys get gains very easily from lifting/strength training , bit like the african american athletes,

    genetically gifted in that area

Not to mention Jonahs favourite food - the Taro, rich in minerals and protein which may have contributed to his ability to gain strength

Didn't they discover a few years back that it was actually the PI yam that was the steroid of the islands and not Taro?

    I read that too .

@nzzp I hope that you are right Bro. What we served up tonight isn't going to dominate anyone, or win a world cup.

Not just tonight, last week, and vs Eng and Ire last year, etc etc

    @westcoastie

Looking at his height to weight ratio, I reckon Jordie's natural position could be Lock. Giraffe and Scooter could be a brothers-in-arms locking partnership like Pinetree and Snowy. Sam Whitelock can they move out to Centre. He is fast and can throw a dummy too.

Jack Goodhue can then sit on the bench and focus on his mullet-growing.

@Machpants said in Pre-RWC test matches:

@antipodean mebbe, but world Rugby said that knocks will get postponed, pool games won't

They might want to update the tournament rules on the website then:

    Abandoned Matches

Where a knock-out Match is stopped following commencement, and cannot be completed the same day, it shallbe considered as abandoned.

In such situations, the following procedures shall apply:

Where a Match has to be abandoned either at half-time or at any time during the second half or any additional periods of play, the score at the time of the abandonment shall be considered as final and used to determine the result of the Match. If the above result is a tie, then the winner will be determined by reference to the following sequential criteria:

The Team which scored most tries in that particular Match. The Team with the most Match points from the pool phase. The Team which in all its Tournament Matches has the best difference between points scoredfor and points scored against. The Team which in all its Tournament Matches has the best difference between tries scoredfor and tries scored against. The Team which in all its Tournament Matches has scored most points. The Team which in all its Tournament Matches has scored most tries.

Where all criteria above are not able to determine a winner, the winner shall be the Team that is higher ranked in the official World Rugby World Rankings at the time the Match is scheduled to be played (this criterion will not apply for the Final; in the case that the winner of the Final cannot be determined from the above criteria the two Teams shall be jointly declared winners).

Where a Match has to be abandoned at any time during the first half, the Match shall be played againin full within the two days following the scheduled Match day at the same Venue, or if required, analternate Venue as directed by RWCL, for the full time, or such longer period as determined by RWCL.

    Cancelled Matches

Where a knock-out Match cannot commence within the two days following the scheduled Match day (or such longer period as specified by RWCL) or is abandoned prior to half-time and cannot be postponed and rescheduled within this period, it shall be considered as cancelled.

In such situations, the following sequential criteria shall apply to determine the winner of the cancelled Match:

The Team with the most Match points from the pool phase (applicable in quarter-finals and semifinals). The Team which in all its Tournament Matches has the best difference between points scored for and points scored against. The Team which in all its Tournament Matches has the best difference between tries scored for and tries scored against. The Team which in all its Tournament Matches has scored most points. The Team which in all its Tournament Matches has scored most tries.

Where all criteria above are not able to determine a winner, the Team that is higher ranked in the official World Rugby World Rankings at the time the Match is scheduled to be played (this criterion will not apply for the Final; in the case that the winner of the Final cannot be determined from the above criteria the two Teams shall be jointly declared winners).

@shark said in All Blacks locking stocks post 2019 RWC:

I made the point that the ABs these days predominantly select 2m + guys. If it were true that jumping ability trumps height, then surely we wouldn't see them go for as many guys at 2m or taller.

Since 2002, off the top of my head:

To be fair the lock selection in the past 16 years can be broadly catagorized as:

2004-2011 - Literally who is not injured.
    2012-2019 - Rettalick/Whitelock.

The only time in that period where they had a serious choice between the two groups was in 2011 where to be fair they were content with one 2 metre+ lock in Whitelock and paired him with Thorn while attempting to see if they could catch lightning in a bottle with Hoeata.

Having a quality third option in Read consistently in the side for the past 12 years has been a major part of the lineout equation too.

Jack was a good player and Boric woulda been better if he didn't retire hurt.

    No mention of Chresten Davis?

Only played Blindside for the ABs.

Fuck bro, sometimes I wonder if you even watch Rugby.

Blindsided Caleb Ralph, that's for sure. HAR HAR HAR

Perry has been training/re-habbing with the squad since it was named earlier this month.

Selectors clearly see a role for him seeing as they're keeping him as close to the squad as possible.

I wonder if this one also came from the top?
