The new 10-man leadership group, which includes captain Kieran Read, vice captain Ben Smith along with fellow tourists Sam Whitelock, Kaino, Dane Coles and Beauden Barrett, then held a meeting to decide Smith's fate.

As the evolution of the new leaders continues, one common trait remains. Like those before them don't expect this 10-man group, which includes Sam Whitelock, Jerome Kaino, Dane Coles, Barrett, Cane and Aaron Smith, to get carried away.

    So thats -
    Sam Whitelock,
    Jerome Kaino,
    Dane Coles,
    Barrett,
    Cane
    Aaron Smith
    Read
    Coles
    Ben Smith

I think Cruden is usually in there too.

Its interesting to see which long term ABs aren't there. J Savea not surprisingly, Owen Franks is clearly to busy practicing his try scoring celebration (or at the gym). BBBR? Only need one lock I guess. Has he ever captained a team?

He's captained the Chiefs once or twice.

Wasn't there an article earlier in the year saying Cane was no longer in the leadership group? Not much explanation and the conclusion was drawn that it was so he coukd concentrate on filling the hole left by Mccaw (or preparing him to be dropped for Ardie)

Have a vague memory that TJP being in it too but may be thinking of A Smith. I remember being surprised but that's about it.

Edit: after a quick google i couldn't find anything other than saying Cane had been added to the group. Search also suggested BBBR and SBW were included too. No mention of tjp which is understandable.

I thnk that was an oversight that he hadnt been listed in that article IIRC, given he has been part of the LT for a while, it would have been odd to remove him.

I also remember a discussion about Cane not being in the leadership group.

I can vaguely remember something like that coming up but I'm pretty sure it was proven wrong pretty quickly. Probably Canes4Life or Winger getting uppity.

According to this article, the members of the leadership group are:

    Beauden Barrett
    Sam Cane
    Dan Coles
    Aaron Cruden
    Jerome Kaino
    Kieran Read
    Brodie Retallick
    Aaron Smith
    Ben Smith
    Sam Whitelock
    Sonny Bill Williams

Not sure whether we can really believe this to be correct, because the rest of the article is way off the mark.

How fortuitous to have someone so experienced to head up the "funny business in public restrooms" subcommittee.

Doubt it's 11 players. With that many it's pretty diluted, almost a 3rd of the squad.
