Yeah. I put Statham in light entertainment mode

The Statham Youtube highlight reels are great. He's the Ardie Savea of Hollywood.

After banging another hot model in Kelly Brook. Great effort.

@Nepia I thought the 1st was a tad more 'serious' whereas the 2nd seemed to up the ante and a bit more humour, both in the sit down, switch brain off and enjoy the ride type movies, like most of the John Wicks.

@Nepia the 2nd Nobody film was just that, larger than life action film, shooting, splosions, unrealistic survivals etc...it is what it is.

Plenty of films that cop it in here are easy to watch as they are not pretending to be anything other than what they are.

I found that about the first one, even when people were saying it was gritty and realistic. The final scene of the first one would have fit completely in the second.

I would never have described Nobody as gritty/realistic.
I think I've written once before - upon a rewatch, if anything I found it to be a fun tongue-in-cheek over-the-top homage to 1980s movies. The end-scene = grown-up Home Alone.
I had fears that the sequel would be a straight-up cash-in on what movie execs think made the original successful, but would inevitably focus on the wrong things. It sounds like they at least kept the fun. Low expectations for any third installment.

There were a lot of people claiming it was when it came out which bemused me at the time.

That is the best description for the final scene. 👍

I have low expectations for the third instalments, but I'll still go and see it.

Okay - just watched Nobody 2

    • Decent fun
    • As suspected, movie execs sometimes missed the point of what made the first one successful, but not always. 50% hit-rate is to be expected, I guess.
    • I'm afraid that if there are further sequels - they will all contain a scene of shit-tonnes of cash/product being burned up; and an end-scene of "the A-Team fortifying a location with booby traps and shit". The first was kinda fun once. The second - a pretty boring trope, but... : shrug : - it's an easy device.
    • I was curious as to whether they would pay attention to a pretty obvious detail... 8x SUVs full of bad guys (and gals).
      • But nope - I counted 50 bad guy/gal deaths. Pretty sure none of those SUVs were actually minivans.
    • I knew that I should know who was acting the Big-Bad, but couldn't remember, and didn't recognise her. Took until the end-credits to realise.
    • BTW - Who the fuck is he working for, that decided it would be a good idea to fund the Russian Mafia rebuilding? Any "private enterprise" - surely they're effectively providing (re-)start-up for a competitor? Government-Agency - surely not.
    • Sorry - don't really give a shit, as long as there were silly fistfights, even sillier gunfights, and even sillier knife/machete/katana fights.

4 plush badgers out of 5 duck boats.

BTW - did anybody else think "Chekhov's Lamborghini"? And then... nope.

Have done a couple of lesser known Clint flicks over the last couple of nights.

    Play Misty for me

Clint plays a cool late night DJ in beautiful Carmel/Monterey. Gets involved with a woman who turns out to be batshit. Chaos ensues. Fatal Attraction certainly steals a lot of ideas from this movie. Cheesy and 70s. Jessica Walters does a great job of the bunny boiler role, the locations couldn't be nicer, some decent jazzy music and the man himself is cool as fuck with very big hair.

3.5 obsessed fans out of 5 Monterey Jazz festivals

    The Eiger Sanction

Clint plays a government assassin who is also an Art lecturer at College ( slightly Raiders of the Lost Ark ). Less hair than the last movie, way more ruthless, a couple of nice action scenes, some womanising and some absolutely spectacular mountain climbing stunts from the man himself. Also a story that makes pretty much no sense if you think about it too much.

3.5 Sanctions out of 5 poolside wrestler beat downs

Both movies very dated ( 1971 and 1975 respectively )

    Both full of outdated stereotypes.

Both MUCH better for having Clint star in them.

In fact, the cyber criminals looked like updated versions of thr guys from Hackers.
Throw in for some reason a bunch of TMNT villains for additional ridiculousness

Yes, the Beekeeper was a good time. Dumb as shit, but best Statham movie for a while.

Both really good "Clint" films. The Eiger Sanction was based on a book by Trevanian and there was a sequel called th Loo Sanction which was even darker. Shame that one didn't get made.

It’s possible but at 95 he might struggle a bit with the climbing stunts although spending time in the loo is pretty common at that age.

Add an old man threesome into the script and Clint will pop the movie out in a couple of weeks.

Cry Macho was pretty shit. The last truly awesome movie Clint starred in was Gran Torino which is up there with some of his very best work.

Never seen it. There’s actually a few films he directs that I haven’t bothered with. I prefer him on the screen.

Yep. Utter shit and yes, it did start pretty well too !

    How come.......

none of those rich piston wristed gibbons on the boat could tell Anne/Carrie were two different people ?

Keira Knightly looks better with ( slightly ) more meat on her bones though so that's something.

Also the boat was flash and Norway looks nice.

More slightly lesser known Clint flicks

    Coogans Bluff

Small Town Arizona deputy sheriff goes to New York to apprehend a criminal who has skipped bail. Starts off as a Western, then moves to a classic fish out of water tale with Clint pretty overwhelmed by the big smoke. Nails three fine looking women ( especially the very first one ), clashes with some authority figures and dishes out some memorable beat downs. Nice motorcycle stunt work at the end too. Good enjoyable pre Dirty Harry cop flick.

3.5 tying prisoners to a rail out of 5 Bluffs to get another prisoner out of jail

    Thunderbolt and Lightfoot

A pattern I've seen emerge from Clint flicks is that he surrounds himself with buffoons to make himself look cooler. He meets his match here though in a very young Jeff Bridges. Outstanding rapport from the two of them in a classic buddy heist movie. Really enjoyable romp and some great banter between them. Also ends on a real downer. Genuinely emotional stuff.

I watched Caught Stealing today, essentially Darren Aronofsky doing Tarantino. Didn't really work. Wasn't bad like a Snyder movie, was watchable, just not memorable and didn't really nail it's tone.

Tit-watch for you @Kruse - a brief shot of Zoe Kravitz's small boobies,

I watched Caught Stealing today... and had a vague memory of somebody mentioning it here.
Did a search - came up with above.
My initial review was going to be based around:

    • Somebody trying to do Guy Ritchie in New York, but not really working
    • Titwatch - half-a-tit

But now I'll revise it to - what @Nepia said... but also what I said.
3.5 potentials out of 5 end products.
