@jegga You guys are no fun!

Planet rugby is just a click away bro.

I've already watched all the clips over there, they're too scatterbrained at the moment. Although the French have posted good videos of the incidents on Youtube. I guess they want to see how their star refs go on the tour.

I wouldn't go over there for a while , Kid A must have an old fellow like Ray Charles elbow when he tried roller skating by now.

I tend to only notice Kid A when winding him up for being a movie snob on the film thread.

Quit the whingeing lads, we're not Irish. Naholo concussion doesn't automatically equal foul play. Reckon there is zero zilch nada chance O'Brien will be cited for that.

Well he has been. Doubt he'll get to play next week. A reckless swinging arm that concusses a player = take a rest son.

Any suspension for SOB will be the outrage of the week for B&I media. SH conspiracy and all that, reference will be made to Sam Cane's dark arts-at-speed brutalisation of Rob Henshaw later year.

@Nepia almost agree but accidental doesn't matter nowadays. Contact to head with swinging arm resulting in concussion and player leaving the field. O'Brien is a wonderful player and clean as but shit happens and the rules are about cleaning up technique as much as dirty play

I actually can't see the swinging arm. Of four of us watching together last night, 2 could see the arm and 2 couldn't - we need a Green and Gold style breakdown ....

Hansen needs get really angry about this, I mean it is clearly a personal attack on him, in retaliation to him getting the Herald to post the clown pic of Gats.

UK tabloid The Sun has hit back after the All Blacks' shock 24-21 loss to the Lions by depicting coach Steve Hansen as a clown.

The retort comes after the Herald caricatured Lions coach Warren Gatland as a clown following their first test defeat to the All Blacks at Eden Park last weekend.

The Sun's image shows Gatland throwing a pie into the face of a red-nosed Hansen in a clown outfit with the headline "CLOWN JEWELS".

@pakman sorry what? To start with in what world does Itoje not make that side? He was the best lock on the field. Read also got smashed backwards all night - Toby F made ground.

Do you actually think Itoje was the best lock on the field? 😕

I found his performance in the test to be almost the textbook definition of not living up to the hype.

Itoje's workrate helped the Lions - he was their top tackler (and missed a couple) and caused a few problems for the AB's at rucks and mauls.

Where he was most noticeable was standing about a yard offside at each ruck - not sure he'll get away with that every game.

@booboo pretty innocuous really, but be interesting to see how they treat it given an incident with potential for injury can see a RC, while one that didnt look much, but resulted in a player leaving the field.

As already stated, dont think this needed sanction (although didnt get anything on-field, so if meets RC threshold...) but felt MV should.

@PecoTrain standing a yard off side all the time means you dont have to work so hard to get to the player with the ball 😉

Contact with the head though, and we know how WR feels about that.

I was surprised that nothing was said about the O'Brien tackle during the game as it was obvious what had happened.

I think Hansen needs to shoulder some blame for this, after the red card if you absolutely feel the need to get more speed out there, swap Kaino for Ardie, he could have performed a hybrid 12/7 role easily, but hindsight is 20/20 and Laumape could have decided that, he looked dangerous with ball in hand. Either way he was forced becouse SBW was dumb.

I don't think the decision was made to get more speed out there - it was made to get 7 backs on the park. that they did it so quickly it was clearly something they'd thought about previously and I think it was the right decision.

If you think about it - when a prop gets yellow carded it's usually the blindside flanker who sits out part of the 10 minutes while the reserve prop has to come on. So Kaino is logically the man who is going to be sat down.

In this case, the problem is that we can't spend 65 minutes defending seven backs onto six. We're short of a second five eighth and we have a specialist one of those sitting on the bench, so I can't see why we'd bring on Ardie to play there?

@Chris-B. Well I maybe a tad optimistic about how good your backs are, I would have backed them to defend short handed 😅

For the life of me I can't understand this 'protecting the player' bullshit being dished out by the referees and comms at every turn. Seems its more like a fingertip to the head is red, but charge on a player on the ground(who is also retreating from the tackle) the head not being the point of contact and its play on?

I mean out of the two incidents, SoB on Naholo and Vunipola on Barret, the other had intent, no arms, and a real chance for the receiving end to get injured, whereas Naholo was unlucky to get a forearm to the head.

With regards to the winning penalty, a french ref did the same last week in the Fiji v Wales game and I was fuming.
I prefer it the jumper is penalised.. Like Elsom was..

@taniwharugby you mean the second penalty against the tackler? I can't remember the first.

I've always hated it. Up there with diving over the top of a ruck to score a try for me. Leaves the defenders no legal recourse and just feels like a loophole in the laws that defies the spirit of the game.

@taniwharugby you mean the second penalty against the tackler? I can't remember the first.

I've always hated it. Up there with diving over the top of a ruck to score a try for me. Leaves the defenders no legal recourse and just feels like a loophole in the laws that defies the spirit of the game.

my bad, it was the Fiji-Wales game last week where a Fijian was pinged when a Welshman jumped to take a pass (mentioned in post above)

Having to penalise the tackler is a seriously moronic rule. So everyone jumps when you get to the gainline like Sinckler and you are through the first line of defense. Mind you the fatty can jump, which is probably the most surprising thing.....
