@MN5 Yeah - the guy at Godsown knows me by sight, if not name - always a friendly welcome when I make my annual visit to Hawkes Bay. Great spot for the final stop on a Waimarama / Patangata Tavern / Waipawa Butchery / Godsown Brewery loop on the bike.
Sitting out amongst the hops, with that batshit crazy dog.

Same here. isn't it a terrific spot ?

He is the very definition of a guy living the dream. Will be popping in to meet a mate of a mate ( who I had no idea had moved to Napier ) on the way to the girls family for Xmas. Can't wait for a couple of cheekies.

Of all the posters on this site, the advice you proffer is always highly consistent.

He is 100% the ferns biggest pisshead I'll give him that. Some of his musings are quite wise too ( whether that is because or despite this I don't know )

I'm convinced mate, will be calling in there when I head up that way hopefully in a month or so.
Just find this another reason to come into this site, any recommendations of good breweries etc is always gratefully received, and will be kept note of. I not actually a big drinker by any means, just figure I amy as well drink good tasty stuff when I do.
Lol and funnily enough Mrs who doesn't drink beer is really keen on me trying breweries and happy to come along etc.

I'm a quality beer drinker rather than the quantity beer drinker I used to be. I'm lucky in that the girl loves breweries, she's big fan of Hazys and sours and we'll happily get a tasting paddle each. Always good fun !

She'll never ever buy beer at the supermarket though, will always get Rose or Pinot Gris.

On that note - the word "Beer" has appeared in two cryptic crossword puzzles I knocked off today.
If that's not a sign - I don't know what is... off to brewery.

That's a good description of how I feel I am too mate. Few mates at Golf Club who not into craft beers (which I tell them is fair enough), don't get why I tell them I won't drink out of cans or stubbies etc. Jst lose too much of flavour I reckon.

Just a quick mention, been up Waikato visiting Whanau for a couple of days, and managed to find Bootleg Brewery..Not easy to find as it back of an old dairy factory, and no sign over door or anything. Anyway taproom/bar was closed etc, but the brewer happily unlocked and gave me a taste of a few beers. I brought a bloody tasty Belgian Blonde , APA, Hazy ,Pilsener and IPA. All tasted pretty good, and my bank account is actually want me to abuse the fella that introduced me t craft beers a few years back!😋 🙄

@Dan54 I've driven past the brewery a few times but never stopped in.

Check out the Brewaucracy Brewery/Taproom when next in Hamilton.

I went there on a trip back to NZ last year for a friend's birthday, she's actually mates with the owners so we had an impromptu tour os well and after I bought a paddle they just kept bringing out beers for us to try so my NZ bank account didn't take too much of a hammering.

@Bovidae I've also been to Brewaucracy but it was a while back so I can't actually remember if I liked the beers or not.

@MN5 I haven't been to GodsOwn, will have to remember to give it a visit when I'm next back home.

Thing that I enjoy also going to these breweries is talking the brewers etc. They seem to all be of a mind and will happily recommend other breweries, and say how good their beers are. A real community, and something I enjoy.

    Yeah that’s very noticeable.

Was in Queenstown over the weekend and went to Searchlight Brewery and Altitude Brewery. The girl was in charge of the itinerary on Sunday so that was nothing but vineyards which are also awesome in a different way. As we didn't hire a car on both occasions we walked a couple of km to each, made the beer taste more rewarding !

One of life’s joys is to get a tasting paddle and some fried chicken and chewing the fat with brewery folk. Outstanding fun. There is definitely a kinship there, the moment I mentioned we were from Wellington they raved about Garage Project, Parrot Dog and Panhead.
