Awesome stuff you see on the internet

Not to do a Gollum but I suspect the jiggler (Mel, Kim?) died a few years back of cancer.

These days off course every rap video has chicks in bikinis, u see the fat ass of hoes like Nicki Minaj and titless and talentless Hannah oops sorry Miley Cyrus all the time.
But in the 80's jiggling like that was enough to set impressionable 15 year olds like me 'off' -

The finnish social services are a mess and very expensive for the taxpayer as there are two instances, the aforementioned Kela and a Social welfare office and about a hundred different support payments. Anyone with half a brain understands that there is too much bureacracy and too many bureacrates running this shit.

That is exactly why the majority are leaning towards basic income and also becouse at present, if you are on social support/welfare and get a short term job, say 1-2 month with "possible" extension, you loose the welfare for 1-3 months afterwards, so long term unemployed people cant afford to take short term jobs and I can assure you, it is a MASSIVE shame in Finland to be unemployed, so the majority of unemployed people would take those part time chances of it wouldnt wreck their personal economies for months.

Might be a remark about welfare levels in NZ in general, cost of living etc. Unemployment rate is only 5.8% compared to our 6.2% for example. Smaller population.

I wasn't sure if the back-of-napkin would include the cost of the public service support to it, or whether it was just payments.
-

Social security and welfare consumes $154 billion and about 80% of the population are adults. That would mean everyone would get about $8,000

If you gave only half the adult population a living wage of the tax free threshold it would still require another 10% and that's a pretty shit "living wage".

Labour have shown just how bad they are politically with this. They never intended to endorse this concept or hold it out as policy but what they were doing was a fairly (for them) forward thinking bit of brainstorming about where we are heading as a society and what kind of things we should be looking at.

The overall concept of creating a system where the production advantages from technology create wealth which is redistributed among the population is not an entirely stupid one. The devil is in the detail and the transition would be all round scary.

For me it wouldn't be a question of creating layabouts it would be a re-designed society where 'social' tasks are done to qualify for a living entitlement. This is all idealism but certainly worth discussing and thinking about.

Now if labour had any smarts they would have packaged this as a whole 'Labour are thinking long term and holding various events and conferences to look at where we may be and what we may need to be doing sometime in the future. This can help shape current short and medium term policies.'

Instead they painted a big target on their own backs for the media to take potshots and for everyone to laugh at.
