I read that in the weekend, I'd love to see that sort of writing in our magazines or papers

fascinating read!

Yeah thanks Antipodean

It joins a lot dots. Always wondered why he had such chronic injuries that no other golfer seemed to have

A bit of a pattern, you deny someone a normal social childhood and adolescence and things often get weird later

Fascinating article, but I wonder what Tiger would make of it if he read it. I suspect he might spend a bit of time going, "WTF"? :)

I remember reading somewhere, some guy asserting point blank that, "Everyone wants to be famous". I reckon that's miles from the truth - I suspect much of it would be bloody awful.

Thats what clarkson said, fame over fortune - never heard anytihng so ridiculous. Being rich is good all the time, being famous is awful all the time. Or something like that.

-

I would hate to he famous. I'd end up in a bar somewhere with Jesse Ryder drinking to escape reality.

Yep, fame sucks, I hate it!

See the progress of Black Death across Europe in only a few years. Article also explains that labour shortages caused by plague changed European society and contributed to renaissance

Rembrandt,

Seemingly but the article actually says

Though the map suggests the areas around Milan, Krakow, and the Spain-France border were unaffected, that's not actually true. It's just that compared with the staggering devastation suffered by the rest of Europe, those areas experienced hardly any deaths at all.

But that doesn't mean they objectively suffered a small number of deaths: According to Rutgers historian Robert Gottfried, the death rate in Milan was "only" 15 percent, and "only" around 25 percent in modern Poland. In other words, the rest of Europe was hit so badly that losing 15 percent of your population wasn't even enough to put a city on the map.
