@gunner Haven't seen much of these guys, but the little bit I've seen of Chapman has been quite impressive.

Their stats look good and Bruce hasn't been getting the job done with the bat, while Blundell doesn't look like the right sort of batsman for the job he was given. So, good changes I think, though I'd probably have retained Bruce in the squad instead of Kitchen - who they're saying is surviving as spin cover.... not convinced about that.

Maxwell puts England to the sword to give the Aussies two wins from two. Despite that England didn't really make enough runs, they could readily have won if firstly Hales had hung onto the catch Maxwell hit him or, secondly, they'd given Maxwell out caught by Roy. I've certainly seen those given.

So - Oz with one foot in the final - I think already they can only miss out on run rate (i.e. all three teams end up with two wins apiece).

Chapman will be good. Good 360 degree scoring options, from ball one. Mix of deftness and some decent power.

Seiffert probably won't be. Seiffert will probably have a good long career for nz in at least a few of the formats. But he won't be an instant success in this T20s batting spot, I think, transferring from a top order role with his province to a lower order role with nz. All the better keeping options in nz at the moment don't quite fit the T20 batting role nz need (Cleaver maybe the best current positional fit). So better just to choose 1 and stick with him. There will be growing pains whoever they stick with.

Have to say I'd have preferred Chapman to play against the Windies if they were planning on using him this year, but good to see him in the squad.

Also agree with @mariner4life on the scheduling, it's a fucking mess and leading to a lack of interest with such a long break between games. I like the idea of a T20 Tri-Series but they need to smash it out as quickly as possible because right now, in the midst of the cricket season, we're getting drip fed the odd T20 and that's it. I'm starving!

The Aussie selectors were absolutely right to leave Glenn Maxwell out of their ODI side in that series they got flogged in.

Yeah, but he oozed talent. I liked him, couldn't understand why they ddin't pick him.

As for Chapman, it's a good pick. Looking forward to seeing what he can at the top level. Like Lou Vincent debuting against Aus at the Waca, and Flem batting first. Good times... (well, at the start anyway)

Photo of tonight's pitch in the attached, apparently.

I'd imagine there will be some discussion about it if it does anything other than play like a dream!

We're risking ridicule rolling out something that looks like this - I'd be going WTF if I saw this in club cricket.

Those fours Munro & Guppy hit down the ground appeared to zig zag their way to the boundary. Weird.

@no-quarter Yeah - weird as. Something to do with how they've mowed the grass.

Pitch looks like shit but seems to be playing ok, so far.

Yeah pitch looks awful but it should mostly play OK if the batsmen can put it out of their head.

Munro couldn't find his timing tonight, lots of mishits.

Nice to see Kane playing some great shots. Screamer of a catch to get rid of GdG.
