Cooked for my Dad tonight. He put on some "outlaw country" - mostly Hank Williams Jr and David Allan Coe. Good stuff.

Are you guys into that stuff? What are your favourite songs and albums?

This old mix from MW and AOR Disco is really ace for country boogie.

.Mw Presents - Backyard Boogie Droozing

Great version of Honky Red to start off.

Youtube's Autoplay gave me a gift yesterday, Rage Against The Machine's early concerts.
Fucking awesome how they just burst onto the scene fully formed.

After old mate MN5 called them a crap band last week, i found myself listening to Def Leppard's Hysteria a lot over the past few days.

IMO Hysteria is a great rock record. It's not what you would call timeless, it's very much of it's time, but the production and song writing are absolutely top class (heights the band didn't hit earlier, or afterwards). It's packed with huge tracks, and it's ridiculously easy to sing along to (despite being out of the vocal range of basically all of us).

Just read up on it, it's ridiculously successful. #1 everywhere. 51st best selling album of all time, and sits equal with Born in The USA for most weeks in the Top 40 in the 80s.

Put Nov in your calendar @mariner4life for the Def Leppard Hysteria tour where the album will be played in its entirety. 30th Anniversary last year. I was actually watching a doco on the making of the album last week and you appreciate how anal the band and Mutt Lange was to get the exact sound they wanted.

I'm more a fan of Pyromania myself but Hysteria has some great songs too.

Always good when you're a grumpy old prick like me who's extremely set in his musical ways hearing a new song that really rocks. It is from an old artist but still, probably his best work in my opinion.

Have just discovered George Ezra. What. A. Voice.

I cannot believe he's not a 60 year old plus slightly overweight black fella from Georgia.

This turned up on my YouTube feed for some reason. Mystified and intrigued, I decided to take one for the team and have a look. Pretty catchy and sexy despite the lead singer having a do that would look more at home on a russian football hooligan. @mariner4life @jegga @NTA and any other perverts who might be interested make sure you get the pause button ready for any stray tit shots.....the wardrobe department had a few malfunctions.

Fred Wesley and the new JBs

    woah.

Still kicking myself for selling this LP. Stone cold killer.

    alt text

also kicking myself for not seeing JB when I had the chance. in SF in early 90's, tossup between seeing him for $30 or GG Allin for $5. In the end I was so paralysed by indecision I did neither. Either would have been epic in their own slightly divergent ways...

Well, the funkiest trombonist in the universe and his new JBs were freakin awesome!

Pass the peas, Breakin' Bread, Gonna have a funky good time, Bop to the Boogie, House Party...….

Hard to imagine a more reliably satisfying and relaxing track than this:

    Good article about this album:

    The Quietus  /  Sep 14, 2015

35 Years On: Seventh Dream Of Teenage Heaven By Love And Rockets | The Quietus

35 Years On: Seventh Dream Of Teenage Heaven By Love And Rockets | The Quietus

“So this is for when you feel happy And this is for when you feel sad And this is for when you Feee-eeeel Nothing.” Love and Rockets shouldn’t’ve existed, if everything had gone to vaguely initial plan. It was two years after the initial collapse of Bauhaus, after the Northampton band had gone from...

So this is for when you feel happy
And this is for when you feel sad
And this is for when you
    Feee-eeeel
    Nothing
