Actually, on NMS. Fuck that makes me angry watching that first try and seeing him come in off his wing to tackle a guy who was already clearly well and truly covered. What kind of a fucking decision was that? There was no overlap and not even the hint of an overlap. He's got to go.

Not only that, but TJP farked up the tackle. Got turned inside out, and just didn't recover. Disappointing from a usually good defender.

@bones I wondered that to bones and wondered if perhaps Frizell didn't let him know he was there? Only thing I could think of.

@dan54 yeah possibly but he's last on the chain, plenty of time to scan.

I can forgive TJP, that was a magical run by Moyano.

I really want Alaimalo in the AB setup ASAP. He's very classy and his game looks well suited to test footy. I hope they don't persist with NMS for much longer.

Their back three played really well. The 15 try in the second half off a pop pass was a thing of beauty - just magnificent to watch, and bloody impossible to defend.

Mo’unga was caught very flat-footed too.

@nzzp haven't watched it again but that would usually be what your blindside winger is tracking to tidy up...

Yep - but he hung off, didn't seem to be able to effect the tackle, and wound up over the line with the Argie. I was frustrated. May have had a beer, but was frustrated 🙂

Yep. If his speed is gone then he better do everything else farking perfectly. That was shocking.

He's certainly not shown anything since 2015 that is AB's worthy. One or two nice steps over 3 years... and obviously a lot slower.

@rancid-schnitzel nah he can't even make the bench when the ABs have a club standard player on the wing.

Him at Goodhue tore it up as 12 and 13 for Canterbury. He's not a 13 but as far as I know had never played there before Boyd threw him in. I still maintain it's his best position although I'm more than happy to keep the backline used against Australia. Thought the Laumape Goodhue pairing worked very well. What I liked about Laumape was that he ran hard and straight the entire game. He was taken down in the first half but eventually the effort needed to tackle the square shaped freak was too much and he started carving up. Imagine having to mark and tackle that for 80 minutes!

I disagree on laumape. I'm a fan, but I think he carves up late because defensive lines are slower. He's a brick, but he's not big, and a well set line will stop him. If he hits someone slightly on the back foot though, lethal. Ideal impact sub for that reason, even if it goes against the usual type.

Ever seen him in real life? The guy is a farking nugget. He isn't tall but he's just as wide, with an absolute ridiculous set of thighs. Tackling that for an entire game would be hell. I'd rather take a lock. Him being able to brutalise defences for 80 minutes is a massive advantage. I wasn't sold on him at 12 for the ABs, but after the Aus game I'm more than happy to have him there.

I think he and ALB could be horses for courses. Laumape can cause havoc if the opposition lack size in their midfield, but ALB might be a better option if they're playing a couple of big boppers. Both offer a lot either starting or off the bench.

Actually, on NMS. Fuck that makes me angry watching that first try and seeing him come in off his wing to tackle a guy who was already clearly well and truly covered. What kind of a fucking decision was that? There was no overlap and not even the hint of an overlap. He's got to go.

Id be surprised if he is still there next year ,

I reckon they have brought him in , in the hope they can recapture his 2015 form , he was a revelation that year ,

I think those injuries have taken their toll on him ,

                              Not the same athlete

Best moment for me was after the game. Watching the Haka that Te Toiroa Tahuriorangi's family did was spine chilling stuff . Might even have got some dust in my eye watching that.

Best moment for me was after the game. Watching the Haka that Te Toiroa Tahuriorangi's family did was spine chilling stuff . Might even have got some dust in my eye watching that.

Yeah not sure how the air conditioner was leaking just as I was watching that...

I really want Alaimalo in the AB setup ASAP. He's very classy and his game looks well suited to test footy. I hope they don't persist with NMS for much longer.

@nzzp haven't watched it again but that would usually be what your blindside winger is tracking to tidy up...

It was the one fear I had before the test that given the pace of the Argies backs, NMS would be exposed.

The Argies showed against the Boks that with width they have the passing and running game to trouble any side. Hopefully they bring it next weekend.

Great game, props to the Argies who are getting better but I thought the score line was fair. If you are going to live by the sword you will die by it against ABs. That we can roll out ALB, Karl T., Frizell is just amazing. TJP’s best game in black, once injuries pass we will be spoilt for prop depth. Was pretty disappointed with our wings though, no way you can tell me that we don’t have better choices playing in Mitre 10. Also I think Coltman’s throwing has to be better than Harris. Would still love to see atom Franklin brought into the squad to.

What is really noticeable to me is the level of our forwards ball handling skill. They have worked hard on some of those pressure handling situations since 2012 and I think it is really paying off. Tough for other teams to consistently match this.
