@Stargazer Who's going to be TJP's backup?

They'll find a journeymen player who's had a decent Mitre 10 season
Canes finally have a decent pack, then proceed to lose BB and likely his brother as well at the same time

The Canes could do worse than Stratton if the Chiefs don't want him.
@Bovidae his combination with Fletcher Smith could spark interest from the Canes if they play well together during the ITM Cup.

Official:
We already knew Matt Todd would be leaving NZ. Now, we know where he's going. He has signed with Toshiba Brave Lupus in Japan.
Jack Stratton has also signed with Toshiba.

Only 24. So none of 5 NZ teams wanted him?

@Bovidae Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. Makes you wonder who the 2nd and 3rd Hurricanes halfbacks are going to be. Jamie Booth? and ?
@Stargazer No idea. He won't be very experienced whoever it is.

@Stargazer Dang I was hoping the Chiefs would drop Taumateine and pick Stratton up.

Former Wellington and Hawke's Bay prop Tolu Fahamokioa, former All Blacks 7s and Taranaki player Beaudein Waaka and Bay of Plenty midfielder Liam Steel have signed with the New England Free Jacks for their inaugural 2020 Major League Rugby season.
Also former Otago player and Fijian international Naulia Dawai and a Canterbury or Canterbury club rugby player (no. 8 ) by the name of Brad Hemopo.

Richard Judd has signed with Suntory Sungoliath in Japan.@Stargazer Damn it I really rated him as a reliable back up, I reckon KHP (Im not spelling his whole name) from Wellington has the ability to step up didn’t let us down against the British and Irish Lions, just need an equally good 2nd back up.

Best known as the security guard who absolutely SMASHED a streaker at Forsyth Barr Stadium a few years ago.

@Stargazer I've just been looking at the competition website - it's better than bloody Super Rugby. Also, each team has a crazy range of names, I looked at about 3 teams and every one of them had about 3 or 4 surnames I'd never heard before.

It is, but it's understandable - his body just isn't holding up, so he may as well cash in while he can.
He's never going to be an AB, so going now is good for him. In fact, with Jacobson having arrived, he might not have even made the Chiefs starting line up.

In that case can the Chiefs have Mitch Dunshea - must be surplus to Saders requirements:grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

@Jailbreak7 Hard pass thanks. A good mate of mine went to school with him, apparently he's a massive piston wristed gibbon.

There was always one or two of those hanging around in the first 15....
