None of those three are the answer at test level. Just classic BC "allrounders" - have a bash with the bat and throw down some military medium pies, then get promoted to provide more "balance".

I'd prefer we go with a 6 - 1 - 4 balance if we can't get a decent allrounder. A couple of the batsmen can throw down a bit of spin if the bowlers are getting ground into the dust on a flat track.

@mariner4life will be pleased with CDGHs return with the bat in the same way @NTA loves the Marsh boys.

false equivalence. NTA hates the Marsh boys with a passion (they are pretty underwhelming).

I only give CdGH shit because i think he's a bit underwhelming, not good enough at either discipline to get a run in a test side.

That said, on that deck, his brand of military medium was pretty much what we needed (okay, obviously what we needed was a really fucking good leggie)

That's some collapse isn't it? The Zimbos would be embarrassed by that.

CDGH is basically stealing tests off the more talented Jimmy Neesham or Corey Anderson

      🤣 🤣 🤣

I said more talented. I didn't say they were the next Imran or Gary Sobers....

Well they're all better All rounders than Mitch Santner

Didn’t Neesham get dropped from domestic cricket last year?

Plenty of talent, but probably unfulfilled so far - sadly!

Not much point slagging a player if you don't offer up his replacement

Thus it has been ever so with NZ cricket

Hasan Ali to de Grandhomme, OUT, enginers whirring! Hasan Ali runs down the pitch and pulls the chain. CDG will be embarrassed with this shot, no doubt. A length ball in at off stump. Keeps low on him a touch but that's probably because he wasn't on the front foot. It's a hoick. He's stood tall and hoicked. And he's lost his stumps, which is what happens.
                C de Grandhomme b Hasan Ali 14 (13b 2x4 0x6) SR: 107.69

                    Question.

I've not seen hotspot in various DRS referrals in this series (not that I'm watching closely). Has that been arsed? (Have vague recollection it may have been.)

Just think hotspot is more reliable than snicko, or at least builds a fuller picture.

                    You thoughts?*

I'm asking on behalf of Tom Latham.

@booboo I believe hotspot is pretty expensive so they agreed recently that if you at least have snicko then you can use the DRS system. Think hotspot is preferable though.

ah yes, the roller coaster of emotions that is the Black Caps. Stunning win to at shameful humbling loss in the space of a week.

14 wickets is pretty fucking sweet.

Classic one-two play with the bookies though. Lose while rampant favourites, then destroy the opposition when the odds move for the next game.

@mariner4life beating the previous best v NZ by Courtney Walsh... of 13 wickets for 55 runs! What in the actual fuck!! ha ha those dudes pretty much bowled lightning bolts so the economy rate shouldn't be that surprising.

How is it out of sorts? It's actually a strong line up on paper albeit with a long tail.

Luckily I didn't see any of NZ's innings (plural) but a big congratulations to CdG for his highest score on tour.

NZ broke all sorts of batting records in this test too. But not in a good way.

It’s out of sorts because it’s not performing consistently. Our bowling has been far more competitive.

The good news - NZ wins the toss and will bat.

Somehow CdG retains his place but Southee is in for Wagner and Somerville will make his debut as he replaces Sodhi.

Crucial toss to win. Hoping you reverse jinx CdG and he goes big and deep in this game.

The good news - NZ wins the toss and will bat.

Somehow CdG retains his place but Southee is in for Wagner and Somerville will make his debut as he replaces Sodhi.
