I disagree. This is the only place I've seen comments about it.

That stuff is in the past, and as kiwis with Lou Vincent and "others" we have absolutely no soap box to stand on.

Will this pitch kill test cricket? I don't buy that. We got a result didn't we? Part and parcel of the game is variable pitches, scores and innings. Watching Root & Brooke dismantle a tired and disheartened bowling attack was superb viewing. Then seeing the platinum duck straight after was a real sit up and watch moment.

Yes, I wouldn't want every match played on such a road, but I wouldn't on a pitch were 200 is an excellent score either.

I actually agree with you re the pitch, though I think @Dodge was feeling that there are a few too many such pitches currently, particularly in the sub continent. But as you say, variety is what we really want.

I think the problem is that the pitch was a road throughout and that it didn't really change, it was not a balance between bat and ball, Pakistan were just exhausted after chasing a ball around for as long as they had too in that heat. The pitch was shocking IMO.

There's another game here in 3 days time, in my view they should use the same pitch

@Dodge I'm certainly not saying every pitch should be like this - far from it.

But we did get a result on the 5th day & cricket has always been about more than bat vs ball. So the odd pitch like this is fine by me.

In this case, Pakistan were genuinely cooked by that stage of the match. To add to Ollie Pope's score, must have been pretty gutting for Abdullah Shafique to field for 150 overs on the dot, and then lose off stump first ball. But for both openers, that's the Test match joys of being ground into the dust in the field.

Yeah I think I recall an interview with Ross Taylor on the radio where he mentioned as a cricketer ( especially a batsman ) you’re failing more times than succeeding ie a hundred is obviously a great effort but you only get them every now and again and can often get a string of shit scores in between.

The White Ferns 2 from 3 at the T20 World Cup after beating Sri Lanka and keeping Chamari Athapaththu relatively quiet.

On the plus side, they don't lose everything when they're playing sides other than Australia and England. However, still a big question mark over their batting and strike rates against sides like Oz and England...

The White Ferns won't have a better chance of making a final now with the WI's upset win over England meaning that England goes home.

Wow - I'd taken that result for granted.

West Indies clearly are good enough to be there over England, so that's a big consideration. But I do like our chances a lot better v them. Especially if Taylor is still out injured.

I am not someone who slags off womens sport but Jesus the quality of what I’ve seen in this tournament is embarrassing- Alex Hartley (ex England and now a really good addition to TMS) reckons that only 80% of the England team are fit enough to play international cricket. With that, the pathetic fielding performance and inability to hit it off the square those players ought to be ashamed of themselves. They’re letting the women’s game down. Actually can’t bring myself to watch it it’s so bad.

Apparently Joseph, the West Indian opener, was dropped 5 times before England actually caught one.

Plenty of drops in the NZ v Pakistan game as well.

7 drop catches by Pakistan IIRC. NZ have some very average catchers too.

going to be excellent watching today for Pakistan England. Game is poised - could swing either way. Pakistan in front, but not by too much
