Hurricanes 2020

JGB has done well this year.
Jackson Garden-Bachop is among a handful of players off-contract at the end of the Super Rugby Aotearoa campaign.
The 25-year-old said his preference was to stay in Wellington and build on his busiest season after stepping out of Beauden Barrett’s shadow to become the team’s first-choice playmaker in 2020.
“Hopefully being here,” Garden-Bachop said. “I love it here so hopefully that will unfold in the next few weeks.”
@Winger yeah he has been very consistent. Hasn’t set the house on fire but he has done everything asked of him. He’s still growing as a player IMO so hopefully the Canes snap him up. Fletcher Smith might be the one that misses out if they decide to sign someone like McClutchie or Love (who I hear is turning a few heads in the Wellington Academy since coming in from Palmerston Boys).

@Winger the Blues still need a decent first five
Black is off contract?
-
Interesting. He's signed with NZR through to 2022 and has the option to change Super Rugby franchises at some point post 2020.
Now, he only commits to the Canes for 2021. I guess he wants to keep his options open for 2022?@Stargazer said in Hurricanes 2020:

But like his brother it seems he can't commit to the Canes.

Edit. Nah looked like I'm wrong sanded he still had the option to move. He holds all the cards really

Great news: PUJ & Aumua re-sign

In case anyone is wondering - after reading that media release - about the duration of that contract extension of Aumua and Umaga-Jensen :
https://twitter.com/Hurricanesrugby/status/1291236302793265152
Weird that the media release doesn't give this info. By the way, Aumua was already signed for 2021. -
Umaga-Jensen, 22, signed a one-year extension and will be with the Hurricanes until 2022.
Aumua, 23, is contracted until the end of 2023 to the Hurricanes and NZ Rugby, joining team-mates Tyrel Lomax, Du’Plessis Kirifi and Billy Proctor as confirmed in Wellington for the next three years.

PUJ and Jordie Barrett delaying their moves to the Blues until they can play with Beauden Barrett?
