Don't really see the point in Whitelock for 2, then Cane once he hits Whitelock's age.

I agree we kind of need someone to captain for the entire cycle. But I guess the way the team is run by the players' group these days, they might be able to overcome that, like an unofficial co-captain/captain in waiting.
