Lets get some contenders first. Don't want to miss any.

Props: Sona, Clint, Edmonds, Crawford ......May/Franks
    Hookers: Norm, Hika, Ash

Locks: Dustin Watts (my fav play when I was young), Bryn, Lokotui, BBBR, Allerdice
Loose Forwards: Dallas Seymour, Gareth, Karl Lowe, Michael Johnson, Mutu, george naoupu, Waldron, Tony Lamborn

    Halfbacks: Easy Pick: Chris Eaton
Honarable Mentions: Brad Weber, Kahn, Danny Lee

    First 5: West, Dan W, Matty B
Midfielders: Shoes, Bucky, Fruen, can't think of many others....Nathan Mauger

Outside backs: Bucky again, Izzy, Zac, Cunningham,

Brain has given up. Obviously majority of those are from 2000 onwards.

You can't have liked Watts too much, he mostly played 6 for us back in the day.

Also, if we had down votes you'd get two for mention Franks and May in this discussion. πŸ˜‰

Some of the older players would be: Gordon Falcon, Romana Graham, @Stockcar86 good call on Johnson, Gareth Evans at lock too, Graham Higginson, Horrell of the recent lot, Roger Randle had a few years before being poached by @Hooroo's mob, Ben T if he hasn't already been mentioned, Ken Taylor on the wing, Kaka, Jeff Karika on the flank too - he was an awesome midget, Forster and Pod Turner before they got poached.

Coops might be Waikato's record points scorer but he wouldn't make the best XV. We can use Beaver.

It's just the kicks out in front I need to worry about!

@Nepia My Waikato team had ALB and DMac in those positions. The caveat is that both were very young when they played for Waikato so they've been picked on SR and AB form.

Andrew Strawbridge went close at fullback in my team. He's 3rd on the points list BTW, with The Boot 2nd.

Now that I have thought a bit more, maybe Paul Cooke or Tony Maidens on the wing?

I agree with @Nepia about Falcon at 8, no-one better in his prime. And also Horrell, even if not homegrown. The only other contender that I can remember who was a great regular 12 was Davis Norman, but that is probably showing my age. I do think that Danny Toala can eclipse them all with the right focus and opportunities

Maidens wouldn't really be in the conversations to start though would he? Guildford, Cooke, Randle, Taylor etc would all be ahead in the queue.

As were Guildford and Randle, and Trinity Spooner Neera for that matter.

Actually, that reminds me Tafai Ioasa is another nomination for the loosies.

Yeah, if it was non NPC era it would be between Cooke and Blake in the 20s and MacRae and Davis from the 60s.

George Konia played for Manawatu first ....

But played for Hawkes Bay schools before that.

I assume @Gunner is suggesting he's a bad coach and that's why we'd want him coaching the Taniwha?

                                      Yes you're right.

In 1987, his last year at Te Aute College, he made the HB Under 18 team that won the Central Region Under 18 title.

That HB Under 18 team contained Shaun Bell, Aaron Hamilton, George Konia, Nathan Paewai, John Timu, Andre Bell, Jason McDowell, Stu Forster, Greg Halford, George Ormond, Justin Cullen and Gordon Falcon, who all went on to play first-class rugby.

No wonder they beat Wellington 25-7 in the final.

@Nepia looks like it's made up basically of of TKK o Lindisfarne.

Also should we add Marvin Karawana to the midfield options?
