To be brutally honest , Northland have made Hawkes Bay look like world beaters with some real basic errors ..

      He has been very good

But gee we have blown several chances with poor basics, which gave them relief and great field position

@Steven-Harris we have just been terrible. Coaches need to open there eyes about key play makers of they want to turn the season around.

          Lies, we are awesome.

JK, we were both shit in the first half, luckily for us we stopped being shit and they continued.

I think our bench/impact was probably better though which may have turned the game even if Northland played better.

@kev wouldnt say terrible, but our lineout and handling at crucial times has been poor. Cost us any chance

ah well, I never expected to win it, plus we always bottle it in these games.

I think we played some good footy, got ourselves in the right parts of the field, but some very poor errors kept handing advantage back to HB.

I think we have been scored against several times this year on the restart after we scored.

Could see the drop in intensity when they scored after the break though, what energy that was left looked to leave through the east gates!

Pickerill was his usual self, but he wasnt a deciding factor in the game, which I think he should take as a compliment haha

@taniwharugby not really angry but its the basics - when you can’t kick the ball out on penalties, you knock the ball on after scoring and your lineout doesn’t work, its terrible. It means that all the effort is wasted. For a lot of what we are doing ( e.g. defence ) the team is so much better this year. Just want us to go the next level.

@kev yeah they seem to have a great team spirit and fight to the death each week, but yeah those silly schoolboy errors really hurting us.

That knock early on by Hohaia and then Hohaias knock in Nocks break out...both in prime position, 1 we know woulda been a try, the other was building...then that fucked lineout 6m out and they take it and charge 60m downfield, then that mess up after we score a try, results in a HB try...if we ever want to make that next step up, its that kind of shit we need to tidy up

@taniwharugby I thought this game after Southland was a step too far. We just got across the line then looked banged up and very mid season out of ideas. Just want the Coaches to makes some positive moves. Hope they have some courage.

@kev yep, I said early in the thread and every other thread, he needs to run more, he poses much more threat to them when he does that, instead of kick or pass, and he has gas, and I liked that play in the 1st half where we went Matich to Nock to punt down field

One big error from Tom, too slow off the side of the scrum letting Flanders storm 50m down the field.

Matich worked his arse off as usual, Olsen so good round the park, but his lineout...

Thought Wright and Tuiloma stood up well in that first 40 too

                                        Never in doubt. :face_with_stuck-out_tongue_winking_eye:

How awesome were Flanders and Fakatava! Mikaele-Tu'u, McClutchie, Dixon and Ili, too!
For Northland, Sam Nock stood out. Almost as good as Fakatava.

I kept hoping Baker would do his hammie with one of his kicks. And just when I was shouting that at the tv, he left the field as if the coaches heard me.
