    Alternative team :

    Dowd
    Coles
    Meeuws
    Thorne
    Jack
    Collins
    Holah
    Read
    Marshall
    Mehrtens
    Rokocoko / Savea
    Little
    Bunce
    Howlett
    Osborne

I'm intrigued as to what this is the alternative to...😁

    Woodcock
    Fitzpatrick
    Brown / Hayman
    Retallick
    Whitelock
    Kaino
    McCaw
    Brooke
    Smith
    Carter
    Lomu
    Nonu
    Smith / Umaga
    Smith / Wilson
    Cullen

I could have written Kronfeld instead of Holah and Robin Brooke instead of Thorn in my "alternative" team.

I liked Holah, but Kronfeld and Cane are easy automatic selections over him. Hell, I think maybe even Ardie would get in ahead of him.

Speaking of Savea's, I can't believe people are pushing Fatty Savea's case. Joe Roks was better for longer and Lomu was just better. Is there some rose tinting going on with Fatty? Dude was awesome for a brief period then his form fell off a cliff and now he gets selected in Super teams because his last name is Savea.

And won a Lions series.....oh wait!

Ah well, he wasn't perfect, two RWC and a drawn Lions series is probably a better return than the traffic conductor Mauger's no RWC and one Lions series.

Weirdly Ma'a has a Lions series win under his belt .... from 7 minutes of play in the DC match.

Weird he still scored 46 test tries when he was “awesome for a brief period” he scored those tries in 54 tests yet Rokockoko only got that in 63 and Lomu got even less in 72 games...

Julian was always great at scoring tries on the end of a backline, that's not in dispute. 2015 and 2016 he was still running in tries, but I doubt anyone thought his all round form was great. That's one thing that he has over Joe Roks though, when Roks form dropped he stopped scoring tries (Roks had a whole year of tests when he probably shouldn't have been selected).

Also, try scoring rates doesn't seem to be all and end all as you've plumped for Goldie over Howlett on the other wing.

I think you got your test stats muddled a bit for Lomu and Roks. Lomu played 63 tests not Roks - he played 68.

@Nepia teaches me to trust Wikipedia they said 73 games for NZ for Jonah must have included his midweek games etc...

I went for Wilson as I feel he offers more all round then Howlett and who doesn’t love Goldie.

Which was probably the amount of time SBW spent on the field in the 2011 final and semifinal (before he was carded).

I'd be selecting Lomu on X-factor, not just his own record. In a classic example of reckons over me looking anything up, I vaguely remember Kronfeld did well out of supporting him.

Indeed. In a classic case of sporting Alzheimers I have vivid memories of what they did in 95 but can't for the life of me remember what Ioane/Bridge/Clark did with Cane/Savea this year.

sorry to resurrect an old thread but for 6/loosies I'd put Jerry Collins on the bench. It would be about the only time the opposition would be hoping/praying Kaino doesn't go off early injured!
