@chris-b said in AB Quizzes (Wingers + others): @booboo said in AB Quizzes (Wingers + others): @chris-b said in AB Quizzes (Wingers + others): Booboo got all the easy ones! I can remember easily Naas Botha, Danie Gerber and Ray Mordt among the Bok backs. There must have been another fullback other than Hewie - Richard and Bevan Wilson and Clive Currie would all be options - but, all might have been done by then. Murray and Mark Taylor both around that era. Easy? I'm super proud of Andy Jefferd A good get. But, he was playing for Glenmark at the time, so I probably would have remembered him! My main problem is that for the fringe players - I can remember them - but they could have been anything from about 1974-1984. Really? Thought he was from East Coast?

Clue for #34 - played centre and I think to this day still is the only AB to play a test match for the ABs and England….

@act-crusader Jamie Salmon?

Clue for #31 - a Nth Auckland prop that only played a handful of mid-weekers on the Europe tour. Good farming stock.
-

#23 - I don’t think he’s been mentioned, he was a big Auckland prop, over 6’3. He played in one test in 81 (no other games) and it was the loss to the Boks in Welly

@act-crusader Brad Johnstone? No ideas about the Northlander.

@chris-b said in AB Quizzes (Wingers + others): @act-crusader Brad Johnstone? No ideas about the Northlander. Not Johnstone. His last match for the ABs was in 1980. #23 was behind Knight and Ashworth, so opportunities were limited. This from his bio While he was recognised as one of the strongest props in the game, his tactical appreciation was questioned by some and others, particularly the hard men from country unions, felt they could put him off his game with a bit of intimidation

@act-crusader I've had to cheat. Never would have got the Northlander. I can't even remember him. I can remember the Auk now that I've seen him - but, I probably would have needed to go through the names in the phone book to remember him. Luckily, I wouldn't have had to go too far!

@booboo said in AB Quizzes (Wingers + others): Peter Sloane? Sloane’s last match was the 10-9 win against the Poms at Twickenham in 79
