It seems Kieran Read is saying some of the same things

Former All Blacks captain Kieran Read has lauded new forwards coach Jason Ryan and first-five Richie Mo’unga for New Zealand’s stunning turnaround win over the Springboks.

Maybe but he knows both environments inside out
    And the players.And the coaches.
Maybe he knows more than we do.

Ryan seem to have made a huge difference. (But by only selecting 2 Crusaders forwards to start). But maybe wait a bit first to at least see how the next 2 tests go.

Richie. I would without a doubt rate him higher than BB. But was he so much better mainly due to the forwards stepping up. We might only know if the Argie forwards easily win the forward battle in the next 2 tests

Ideal scenario - McLeod & Foster gone - as defense and attack major areas of concern structurally, Schmidt caretaker through till 2023 (for a Razor smooth transition in 2024), so in the meantime Razor appointed defense & breakdown coach (replacing McLeod), Leon backs, Ryan forwards.

I don't think Razor would want to be an assistant. He could likely get a status head coaching job elsewhere.

@Winger there's limited time until the world cup, so chuck joe the reigns for the short-term, use his experience to polish up the edges and hand over Razor an All Blacks team in a better state compared to after Foster, I'd honestly just give Robertson a total clean-slate to enable him to best succeed post World Cup.

Allows him to plan for the 2024-2027 world cup cycle in advance.

Joe was criticized by some players as head coach of Ireland. And his WC record wasn't great

Its a tough position NZR rugby is in. All of their own making too

I would either let Foster stay as head coach (players seem to back Foster) with maybe one extra assistant. Or boot him out and replace with Robertson.

Foster's win percentage against tier one nations is 57% (12 wins from 21 tests, including eight losses and one draw). Five of those wins were against Australia and three against Argentina.

Overall, Foster has a 65% win percentage, with 17 victories, one draw and eight losses in 26 tests since taking over from his former boss Steve Hansen after the 2019 Rugby World Cup.

That is the lowest by an All Blacks coach in over 40 years since Eric Watson's 40% after losing five and drawing one of 10 tests in 1979 and 1980.

Unless Schmidt has a big change of heart, the best I could see him agreeing to is to be the interim coach for the remainder of the RC. If he doesn't want to travel then he won't be on the EOYT. That would allow the new coach (for arguments sake, Robertson) to select his own squad and assistants before October.

I believe in the new structure the AB coach reports to Shand (part of the Executive team), so he likely remains.

Schmidt already is.. does this mean he's going to be more involved (ie travelling with the team) now?

@akan004 NZR in a rock and hard place (of thier own doing) they have handled this appallingly.

All the players coming out in support of Fozzie, before and after the win means NZR really have no choice but leave it, however, that doesnt mean they cant ditch McLeod or any other of Fozzies team...

@taniwharugby I don't think opinions of players should be considered tbh. Of course they would support the coach who selects them, there's no guarantees the new coach will.

Foster retained until after the 2023 RWC.
There is really not much room to do anything else without Chaos everywhere Super Rugby franchise’s included.
