@Kiwiwomble the guy had a stellar super season ,and given they are going to walk into a firestorm once they hit South Africa I would rather an extra experienced head as opposed to some lightweight..Personally I think they will pick Josh Dickson ..just putting it out there

I get what you’re saying…and won’t argue with the principle…but he’s only managed 18 tests since 2017! And I don’t think he’s played for the abs since 2021…is he actually bringing THAT much more experience at this level?

@Kiwiwomble Stephen Perofeta's name has not been mentioned. He didn't even get a run against Ireland. Is he going to be a 10,15 or used on the bench?

Not quite right. PT was in the same spot as DMac eligibility wise.

Was excellent for the Blues ..@Steven-Harris Wasted choice. A rental of a geriatric, who had a good game against the Brumbies and was solid the rest of the season at super rugby level. That would be a step backwards and conservative. His AB career ended a long time ago.

Ideally we would send one or two to Europe for a season to accelerate their readiness but we would lose control of them if we that was possible.
We should have bought a club over there a while ago to blood players in the offseason. I can't see it happening for many reasons, not least of which NZR seem convinced that Super NZ is the pinnacle and all other competitions suck. Our insularity hurts us; playing SA AUS and others helps deal with different game plans, and how to travel and win. I think we'll miss them in the medium term (and it's hurting us already)

Agreed, I have always though we should have bought a club in Europe. Aside from the commercial opportunity it would have been great to have this option to expose coaches and players to European rugby -
