All I can think of when they say Cane losing the captaincy is that it is because they don't want him to be an automatic starter. I assume that's because they want to start Papali'i. Are you calling him a ruck watcher?

I think you have it arse about face. I have no issue with his captaincy or mana in the team. My questions are simply whether he’s our best option in the 7 jersey.
That’s either because they think Ardie can move back to openside (which I’m not convinced on. He has to be there but is neither a 7 or 8 in the traditional setups) or Ardie stays 8 and DP gets more time.
I agree that if DP is going to take over openside then he needs to get up to speed before the RWC but that solves nothing in regards to the balance of the looses. -

I do. I'm a huge Sam Cane fan as a player.
He hasn't displayed the qualities to be a good captain.
He was captain when Chiefs went winless in Super Rugby Aotearoa a couple of years ago.
That said - whilst I don't rate him as a captain - I don't think it would be nearly as much of an issue if he was still peak Sam Cane. He's clearly not the player he used to be and can't demand a starting spot.

Agree. That’s not what I was getting at. Cane has leadership qualities in my view and going by the respect his players have for him. I just find him not very effective in on field management of the game or ref “playing”
I still think he’s an effective player. The last game looked like he was carrying a heavy burden and that’s a sad way to end. Hopefully he can do a Ross Taylor. -
