@taniwharugby after reading the article I don't think he was blaming the ABs, merely questioning that if the ABs had needed to win the last match to qualify would they have been so quick to cancel the game? I reckon he has a point.
It's a remarkably puerile point. In what alternate universe does he envisage the All Blacks failing to qualify for the quarter finals? That just adds fuel to the idiot fire that the All Blacks get preferential treatment. Which they should by the way.
I also don't see how a thumping loss is the send off he deserves.

Considering the rest of his long international career, is exactly the send off he deserves

If we'd lost to South Africa in game 1 .......
................. ................. ........ ........ ........ ... by .... ...... ..... ..... .... 108 points.Instead of winning ........ by 10.
So, in an approx 118 point different alternative universe.

Good point by @KiwiMurph in the other thread:
@KiwiMurph said in RWC: All Blacks v Italy (Cancelled) (Pool B):
if Boks had beaten ABs and Italy were sitting ahead of ABs in the pool standings - would Italy be wanting to play the game on Monday?

After reading that Springbok lineup, it appears Aura has found a path to Rassie’s hotel suite

Wouldn't be odd to find Aura has been spending time in a Bok hotel suite... -

For the longer term TSFers, the above was written by the same bloke who wrote the legendary piece about how the AB's were shit before we destroyed France in 2004.
Secondly, for all the criticism that the UK rugby media (rightly) gets, when they decide to do it properly, their research is usually very strong.
Thirdly, given Walsh's usual ego-driven writings, I'm rather surprised he hasn't written more of his own opinions on the last 4 paragraphs ...
No that was Simon Barnes who wrote that piece.

Stephen Jones wrote an article before the 2002 test vs England pointing out how pathetic the ab team was on paper. “ where’s McCaw, where’s Jack ?” And “ who is Ali Williams? Mr Johnson your breakfast is served “ were the stand out quotes from it .
I tried to find it after the game but it was taken down .
Where do they find these piston wristed gibbons?@jegga said in Aura watch:

I've still got Brian Moore's "England will destroy the All Blacks Aura of Invincibility once and for all" Sunday Times article from the day of the 1995 RWC semi somewhere....

I just googled to find that (which I failed at) but it is hilarious how many times we have lost Aura - she's like my car keys!
Nearly all of the articles are from U.K. columnists that are actually creating Aura by continually talking about her. Very amusing.

I can't be the only one who finds the aura shit pumped out by the press- whether its still there, lost or found - cringeworthy.
Good comic material though..
