boooo for having to work out eligability for 5 different grades (6 if you include colts who arenty playing finals but theur games count)

    🤣

Renegades Club President and I (Secretary) when it became clear we were missing finals this year.

The worst is when your 2nd Grade make it and your 1st Grade doesn't and you're scrambling because guys played 2 games most weeks

yeah we have somethign called the selection integraty rule where even if someone has qualified for 1st grade....if they were starting 2nd they can still be selected...we cant just flood the 2's bench with guys that only played 1st grade

but its annoyingly complicated, plus lodging injury/berievment exemptions

@Kiwiwomble yeah it can be a pain.

In Subbies here we've got "Open Selection" which means if you have consecutive grades playing on the same day, you can pick who you want between those two grades - or more grades if you have them. Of course Colts is different but they are qualified Third Grade if NOT playing Colts.

Must be registered by Round 11 (of 14)
Must have played 2 separate rounds (i.e. can't qualify playing 2 games on one weekend)

After that: your last 7 games.
If you start 2s and back up for 1s for 4 weeks, only the 2nd Grade games count etc.
If you bench both, only the 1st Grade games count.

All sorts of exceptions e.g. if you played two-thirds of the year in a given grade you can get dispensation (maybe the starting hooker was injured and so on)

@NTA yeah, im stretching it a little as the women are obviously seperate

but had a lot of learning, Colts are considered the same level as 2's for example...but when the colts season finished we started filtering most colts through 4's and 3's....but now most are locked out of those grades as they all had +8 games at a "higher" level

4 from 5 wins so 1st, Women, 2nd and 3rd grade through to the grand final on satuarday

4th grade lost in the final play so gutting for them

            We go again 👑

We've got a Committee meeting tonight and I've started tapping people on the shoulder to join 🙂

President has announced next year is his last in the seat 😞 so we need to get some new blood into the system.

Fortunately a few of the Mormon guys are keen. They love the club and I don't even care what their aims are for World Domination 😉

Finals yesterday and Gungahlin (4th Grade), Wests (3rd Grade), Queanbeyan (Colts), Vikings (2nd Grade) and Uni-Norths Owls (John I Dent - sponsored by Bentspoke Brewing) all took home a premiership today. That's five of six premier clubs a winner yesterday in some grade. A reasonably healthy sign for the ACT & Southern NSW region.

So Power House have gone back to back in first grade, 3's and women lost but second grade also got up for the first time in several decades, another succeesful grade final day.

very proud of this group of people

A club I AR'd a few weeks back were total fluffybunnies against our guys, but besides a bit of shit directed at me at the end of the match, it was all onfield so I didn't hear it and couldn't report it. That plus the cannanball tackles at knees, swinging arms, shoulder charges.

So that club of fluffybunnies we played in R7 are going to be at our place Saturday for R14. We've missed finals so we're just looking forward to cracking on with a couple of games and getting back to the pub.

However, I saw the ref had been booked for both grades, so I volunteered (foolishly?) to referee 2nd Grade - who are the genuine problem children of that particular club.

Anyway I was just speaking to someone on the Board who said they might re-jig all that to bring a solid group of refs out to make sure they're on their best behaviour. We shall see

Outcome: lost 2nd Grade, won 1st Grade. No surprises.

Some of their Fijian guys are associated with KVT, a gang here in Sydney who are flexing their muscle on the scene lately.

We had members of the board present at the ground to monitor proceedings. In the end the club of fluffybunnies had five 2nd Grade guys cited for incidents on the day and previous weeks.

The guy who told a ref to fuck off got a few weeks. Four others - one of whom already had a record - got a week each, meaning they missed the semifinal. What's the fucking point?

Anyway they won the SF and lost the GF so suck a fucking dick.

Abused the ref at the end of the 2nd Grade GF apparently. Nothing was done.

TBH the refs here like to play the victim but refuse to take meaningful action to help stamp it out.

I was reading through the thread and can see you are all Immersed in the sport and culture of rugby. I'm interested in your opinion on the prospects of pacific players selection into the Super Rugby. It appears the % of Pacific players in SR is low and rightly so, as I think Australians should have precedence. Where my concern lies is with (particularly the young) Pacific players are poached for Premier teams (the % varies from team to team), in essence are advised Premiers are the gateway to Super Rugby selection but realistically what are their chances of success, which is where I feel things aren't quite transparent. I did a basic workout with % of SR International players, divide this by the Premier teams (per state) and that not including in variables like how many pacific players per Premier team, cross over of selection from other states etc and what I discovered their chance of success appears to be less than 0%. What is the reality and process if you are able to explain.

Large amount of that in the PI community.

@KiwiKi yeah, sorry, not actually sure what youre asking

we dont have a super rugby team anymore so dont have a direct flow through but there is huge % of PI playing in Victoria comps

Very noticeable in the VIC v NSW U16 fixture the other week. Lot of PI boys in the VIC team.
