@chchfanatic Great post!
Speaking of Sotutu, how come he got red when Cam Millar got nothing on Friday night?
Watching it again, Sotutu should have only got yellow. Hard done by.

I genuinely have no fucking idea how they judge cards anymore. People try to make out there's a process being followed. If there actually is one then it's a shit process.

Has been inconsistent all weekend. IMO, none of the ones I have seen are red cards. Millar the closest, but it was such low force, with Toala driving forward, which is probably the mitigation.
Sotutu's was clumsy, but again, hardly high force/danger. Not quite sure how that wasn't just a yellow.
-
That Telea try was special. Strange that the clipped versions of it online miss the buildup.. the BB and Clarke runs
Those runs were missing from the official SR highlights too
For those that didn't see the full try, these extended highlights show it at 8:35

Razor and his cabal are behind it, they can't afford to have Sotutu dominate this year and not pick him. Even though he's easing himself into the comp, they want to enforce a few weeks where he can't play. 100% fact.
-
Can anybody the fatties on here explain the last scrum penalty to me? From my βnever been in a scrumβ position, it looked like they were heaps straighter than the previous reset and they totally folded the Blues pack - was it illegal? I couldnβt hear the comms, was the penalty for boring in?

Telea's slow eh?
-
Good to see the Blues defence get back to it's previous standards. It was still a bit leaky in the first half but came right in the second spell. The Canes had plenty of ball but often it was slow or behind the gainline
Only conceding 2 tries when a side like the Canes has 60% possession is a good effort
Incidentally I have the opta stats. Anything you guys want to know?

Yeah sometimes you just need a win to get things going, and who knows, maybe that was it. Still miles away from where we want to be, but a BP win in the capital might just be what we need to turn our fortunes around, and the BP is almost a reward for as you pointed out, our defensive effort.
In regards to the stats, give us anything!

People laughed at me a couple of years ago when I said someone should use AI to decide on which infringements get which punishment. The tech has advanced so much I reckon it would work. And besides it can't be any worse than the shit we have now

It would be just as dumb as now because it will have been trained on dumb decisions.
Would we feel better about it knowing that dumb AI was making the decision rather than dumb humans - maybe.

Lakai and Suafoa both had disappointing games on defence
PL made 10 missed 5

CS made 12 missed 5Raw stats yes but maybe with the asterisk of maybe some of the missed tackles were last ditch attempts to cover other's mistakes?
Not arguing that, I didn't watch the game intently, just speculating as sometimes, as we all know, the raw stats don't always tell the whole story.

I'm sure they can make a library of correct decisions for AI to base it's decisions on. I do that all the time with CF Jr's homework

He went around Hohepa who is in the running as the slowest back in the comp - I'm not sure this is the example to use to claim Tele'a is fast.

Barrett is far from perfect these days, but I do agree that the Blues improved when he went to 10. I just wonder if some of the Blues players lack the motivation they have in recent years? Blues fans correct me, but I feel they could benefit from injecting some players with something to prove?
I agree with this. I thought it was noticeable guys like C Christie adding some energy.
There's a few big names who look to be going through the motions

He took his chance. I wonder long term his correct position is blindside? He's played there for NH before

CS made 12 missed 5Yeah Suafoa is an interesting case. He's our best bet at 6 for now, but a step down from Ioane . Not saying he's not physically commanding, but he's not as physical in the tight as Akira was especially last year.
