I reckon start by removing the caterpillar ruck, allowing the 9 to roll it back and set for the box kick.

Agree with @MiketheSnow hands on, you are free game, like it used to be as opposed to the roll it back, move it into ideal position, head up looking if the kick is still on, wait, kick

Another way to limit the caterpillar ruck would be to tweak the "use it" law. Call it quicker and have less seconds to play it

That would stop the slo-mo setup and increase the chance of error.

Keep the time the same, and call it earlier when the ball is playable. Less time to set up the abomination.

On Conway, his technical issues are one of the awkward joys of cricket. By the time TSFers and Junior parents are talking about things, there's no way that he is blind to it. If only the fixes were always quick (even I'd have been a decent batter )

They can be quick with the resources Conway has but something is holding him back.
Maybe it is other issues but there is to much repeats for me to understand why there is no correction at all, not even a forward press or back foot movement to get his feet moving to get into a better balanced position.
No correction of that front foot placement nothing just same every innings so same results.

So same dismissals always off balance Lbw,Snicked off or caught in the covers or gully.

Really frustrating. I watched his whole innings and he looked good getting to 17 before disaster struck.

Very frustrating it is like there is a mental block and he reverts back to staying cast on the crease.
I hope he/they get it right NZ needs him firing.

Exactly!! Why weren't we playing that brand of rugby in the years prior??

Time? Turning around team culture/composure isn't as simple as flicking a switch.

Nah. They just changed the assistants who were far better coaches than the previous ones. Foster was always a non entity.

What on earth have Foster's assistants to do with generally accepted timescales to change culture in a team or organisation?

Might be McConchie. Who actually surprised me in that Pak tour with how good his late overs batting/hitting was.

As in 3rd spinner in the squad.

I'd assume that scuppers any chances of 3 spinners in an 11, though. (apart from a part time like Phillips, Chapman)

@rapido No doubt. "Best of the rest" i.e non cartel, should get us some improvements in tours and opposition, hopefully. Not that that would be hard to improve on.

Those three are going to have a circle jerk anyway. Got to wonder if they are going to overdo it and lose appeal to the their audience due to repetition.

seriously how the fuck is Hadlee not unanimous in this?

When was last time that we all agreed on anything?

IIRC there were dissenting voices about R McCaw being God. Just crazy people on here.

I'm polytheist, McCaw is one of the Gods (but MJ was a better rugby player). 🎣

Do you have to pick a 'soecislist" all rounder? Or will we end up with several just picking our best batsmen and best bowlers anyway?

ESPN tells me that Turner has an average of almost 50 in this format, opening the batting, with a highest score of 171* (average opponents for that).

Second is Guppy with 44 and a much better strike rate.

Astle (surprisingly as he is one of my favorite players) comes in below Crowe and Latham which surprised me.

Scott Styris - 6th most runs by an NZer at a decent strike rate.

Plenty of wickets at a good average and excellent economy rate.

Did BMac do much keeping in T20? I don't remember him behind the stumps much. Makes it as an opening batsmen easily though.

Top five run-scorers for NZ are Guptill, McCullum, Taylor, Munro and Williamson - by quite a wide margin.

Rossco has the weakest stats - lowest average and strike rate, but he's also batted lower in the order than the others.

Scanning the stats, probably the only guy with much of a case to push Ross out is Craig McMillan - who has a better average and much better strike rate - but, from a pretty small sample.

Macca perhaps a contender for the 6 slot along with Neesham and Scotty Styris - but, the latter two perhaps need to be discussed in the all-rounder thread.

Surprises me that T20 has been around long enough that Macca even played it.
