Where is @MN5? Not like him to not bring things like that to our attention.

@taniwharugby In our case the rateable values are considerably in excess of the registered valuer's ones which is grating (we are in what is best described as a rural area, albeit on the very near boundary of what could be described as the "city limit" so it is only a smaller percentage of the valuation that belongs to "improvements"). We are fortunate in that my brother is a retired builder that is now a project manager so he was the one that has come up with the rebuuild value we have used for insurance purposes and we have full confidence in the figures he has provided.
@taniwharugby Interesting to note seemingly perennial top contender @winger has not fronted yet but he tends to be a very late tipper each week so there is still time he may front up. If not then it opens the competition up a bit more! My guys look to only have four starters at this stage so I've got my fingers crossed someone might front up late in the piece to fill the squad out without having to rely on the draft organised by KP.
Edit: And as I wrote the above Winger does front up. Still it is small consolation that he can't improve on his finishing position last season when he sneaked ahead of @Donsteppa to win the thing right on full time.
@taniwharugby The insurance thing is quite scary. I am dealing with the renewal of premiums on the family properties and the premium is up over 10% on last year. The insured values (complete rebuild) we have covered at is over $150,000 more the current valuations supplied by registered valuers about six months ago mostly thanks to the insane costs of building materials etc. The same sort of thing applies to contents insurance. Little wonder people are struggling when that sort of thing happens (and don't get me started on Council Rates!) The insurance premium increases the good folk in Ta$man, BoP and Northland will undoubtedly be facing next year will not be nice, that is assuming they can even get any in the worst hit areas.
Kick off time is less than an hour away now and we still need more tippers. KPs competition is unique in that it is both a teams event as well as having an individual competition so it is twice as fun!!! With the change in URL we are still missing quite a few regulars so the call goes out to all you others that contribute to this great forum but have yet to put their thoughts into action by backing your judgement as to who you think should win each game. Now is the time to put that to the test.
Each Provincial Team has a maximum of six players but just the top five each week count towards the team total and at this stage there are teams that are hovering around the four tippers at this stage so please help out if you can.

Even if you miss the deadline for the first game you can still enter with the game you miss being recorded as a default Away 17+ score @Dan54 can't be too far away from joining in this year..........
@sparky Looks like an aspiring Rasta touch judge for the try scored by the 13. He had his flag up when the ball was at least a metre in play!!!!
Spoke to @Stockcar86 letting him know of the URL change earlier this evening
@sparky I note the guy says
"This league is not broken, it is actually flourishing - we just need to reframe ourselves a little bit to make sure we can reach those wide audiences and grow."
in the article . Clearly he is unaware of the three Clubs going bust (Wasps, Lomdon Irish and Worcester) in the last two seasons not to mention most of the others still taking part running at massive deficits.
@Bovidae To be fair the referee (looks like it might have been Jono Bredin judging by his hairdo) was on the other side so had no view of the incident but somehow the touchie managed to miss it. Probably would have just been a reset scrum Rotorua ball as it looked like it was coming out of the same channel. Whether it had actually "come out" or not is the main point to ponder over as if it hadn't then clearly should have been a Hastings penalty.
@canefan The Hurricanes are owned by the Wellington Rugby Football Union (50%), the offshore investors Y11 Sport & Media Group (34.38%), Coastlands chief executive Richard Mansell (12.5%) and Horowhenua Kapiti Rugby Football Union (3.12%)
They were bleeding money like there was no tomorrow and being cash strapped themselves the WRFU might not have had any other choice

The excellent (and independent) Wellington club rugby website is reporting rumours that the WFRU might have sold it's 50% stake in the Hurricanes to one of the guys behind the NZCIS based out in Upper Hutt
See about the 10th or 11th note in the below link for word of this
Wellington will be playing all their home games at Porirua Park this season. Went there for the Wellington v Taranaki match one cold wet Sunday last year for $10.00 but this year it looks like they have ramped up their GA price to $24.00 per game if their sale price for season tickets ($120.00) is anything to go by. No doubt there will probably be an admin fee lumped on top of that for those purchasing match tickets at the gate on the day.
There is more England colour in the jersey than New Zealand.

Is Pommie Div 2 much of a step up as I don't think they are exactly flush in cash despite it costing one hundred and ten quid to become a social member?Incidentally I see Mark Bright is no longer plying his trade in their pro ranks after what must have been about a thousand games but is still listed as a player/coach within the Amateur side of the club

Fantastic news. I wonder if that will mean he plays NPC rugby for Wellington, considering he's from here.
You may like to read this to set the record straight
@booboo Bruce Robertson's grandson. He made the Counties Academy a couple of years back but can't remember if he ever made it into their NPC squad.

Wearing your Pies cap again and your obvious selection is Brad Weber
Pelligrini is in effect an Aussie having been born there to an Australian Father and a Tongan Mother although his mother might well be a NZ citizen.
End of the locally grown corn on the cob season was last night for me
