Can you point to a body of work at 9 that suggests Carter is anywhere near good enough to be the reserve half back for the ABs?

    Finley Christie.

    Finally Christie?

too much gamesmanship and shit-stirring has developed with Lions tours causing a sour taste

    This.

2017 was the start of my disconnection from rugby - there was no 'phew, Lions got away with one at the end' from their fans, it was 'Kieran was offside' 'ref was 100% right' etc. You saw it in this series with the cleanout at the end of the second test. Blaming the Aussie for not coming through the gate, banging on about simulation - it's all distraction from a critical call. You can argue about the ruling, but it's the shithousery around it that left a bad taste in my mouth. Holier than thou, with a plank in the eye.

Media, Woodward, Alastair Campbell, Gats, Farrell all have plenty to answer for, but the end result is a bit shit.

Not many arms in that 'tackle' either. I don't love the ruling of tackling jumping players generally, but that seemed reasonable. It's when the attacking players are going forward I get pissed off - jumping to catch a pass shouldn't protect you

    Edit: going forward

    flooding in areas like Kawakawa

one of the things that shits me is when you get flooding in flood plains. I mean, that's the point of them - they look spectacular, but it's not an issue. It's the flooding in areas you don't want flooding that are the real headache.

Media just want the money shot/clickbait, though

The problem is, a lot of these guys don't even get a regular Super gig because coaches are looking for something different.

it's the obsession with X FACTOR BABY YEAH

and the end result of that is your loose forward captain doing a chip on their own goal line.

@Victor-Meldrew Because the rest of our 10's aren't much different/better?

Then move on and actually, you know, develop players who are going to be around in more than a couple of years

Isn't leaving the jersey in a better place an AB thing?

    .

Unfortunately at this stage trying to develop a 10 other than DMac and BB is a little like trying to polish a turd. We really need that to change.

Really? I think you can maximise what you have. Jordie looked dynamite playing up north with a different coaching regime. I think our 10s could easily be doing the job needed, but I am not convinced the coaching has been good as Super or Test level for some time.

BB's chips are tolerated by coaches. It is extraordinary. I think it's more that we don't realistically know what we want from a 10, so we don't pick a person and keep them there.

I am also very cautious about RMo coming back and thriving at Test level. He plays like Kyler Murray, and once the electric acceleration goes things will get even harder for him at Test level.

So much fo this is that structurally we tolerate 10s in NZR with noodles for legs. We just don't value kickers.

@Dan54 said in Wallabies v Lions II:

And I agree the whole jackal thing is more dangerous than rucking, why I would be happy for him jackal to be outlawed

the issue is right now it' basically the only way to contest possession. If you forced offensive and defensive teams to stay upright and push over the ball you'd have something closer to the old school rucks. Mind you, it may involved rucking people who are on the ground - another incentive to not go to ground willingly.

The ELV showed they didn't unfortunately.

High definition and slow motion have not been kind to rugby. You get videos with arrows and circles and people who don't realllly understand the laws pontificating.
