No, she thought I was Mark Lamarr, an English comedian and radio DJ. Luckily he was standing five feet from me!

So you look just like a 1950s throwback?

@Smudge warm welcome to the eagles nest fella. The old guy roaming the sidelines with the camera is WB, wander over and tell him Bones sent you next time, I'm sure you'll get a bev out of it.

I shall be remaining relatively neutral, much like my chum who goes and watches a few clubs in the area (Petone, HBOM, Wainuiomata and even occasionally Eastbourne in whatever grade they play in nowadays).

That old fella WB was very active on Saturday, hunting for the best spot behind the line. I respected his hustle.

I have no skin in the club game here in Wellington but I wandered along to Hutt Rec on Saturday to watch Hutt Old Boys Marist and Paremata-Plimmerton do battle in the Jubilee Cup semi-final. Not warm, but an OK day weatherwise with a swirly breeze of sorts.

High scoring affair with both sides guilty of resting on their laurels immediately after scoring. HBOM continued to be quite loose into the second half, and were down 19-37 before making a remarkable comeback to win 45-42 with the last play of the game. They were down to 14 for the last 10 too. Importantly, with 20 to go, they distinctly changed tactics and wore down Pare-Plim by building up the phases with their ball runners close to the ruck.

By all accounts, some of the HBOM committee/top brass had already been looking ahead to the final when having beers at the pub earlier that week, so some red faces were saved with that injury time five-pointer.

Will probably go and watch more club footy next year. It's quite fun to watch when you have no allegiances.

Windies all out for 27. Starc 6 for 9, Boland 3 for 2.

How can anyone be happy about this? So close and yet we still own that record, feels like Starc let them get a couple of extra runs to ensure the wound never heals lol

It was all bloody Konstas - 2 dropped catches and let one through his legs for the single to get to 27.

We can claim a moral victory* of sorts, all the runs made in our 26 were off the bat.
The Windies had 6 extras in their 27 soooooo you could argue their batsmen made the lowest combined runs from the bat only.

*Ironically it was on the same date 6 years to the day we lost the CWC final to England, moral victories we seem to be good at.

Lowest amount of runs off the bat in an innings was in 1924.

Of South Africa's 30 runs, 19 of them came from the blade.

So in effect we have the 3rd lowest all time score...

You have my support on that.

Force makes sense for Hastie. Grew up there until 2019. Played first XV with Tamati Williams over there. Its first string halfback getting on. Would he have already done the Australian residency?

What I'm frustrated about is that we haven't seen it announced who is leaving the franchise yet

Sad thing is he's one of the few Logan Park High School-adjacent rugby players we could claim.

His dad was the standout loosie for LPHS in the early 1990s.

Otherwise it's Flilipo Levi, who switched to Otago Boys in 7th form, or Shane Stewart, who played for Ulster about 25 years ago.
