@Hooroo Wow about 20 years now.

Ok, that makes sense. I think you would struggle to find one of those annoying cars now. (Most have a limit you can reset and change at will)

@MajorRage said in Bye Bye HK ... Hello UK ... Hello Tauranga Ferners ... ?:

Some thoughts on our South Island tour ...

    Queenstown - awesome.
Invercargill - guess you need to know some people ...
Balclutha - the beaches near there on the way to nugget point are some of the best I have ever seen, anywhere on this planet. Stunning
    Dunedin - fascinating place
Moeraki Boulders - kids LOVE this place, LOVE it
    Christchurch - depressing. utterly depressing.
Arthurs Pass - stunning stunning drive. as good as milford sound
Greymouth - chilled, very chilled .. in both sense of the wod
Hanmer Springs - cracking little town, beautiful place to kill some time
Nelson - awesome ... if I lived in NZ, I'd probably have a holiday house here
Blenheim - loved the wine tour there, loved it.
    Interislander ... snore.

Wellington now ... North tour to come!

Don't forget to take in the highlights of Palmy if you can find some.

If you can, try and find time for a stop at the Army Museum in Waiouru. Especially if you have relatives lost on duty, the weeping wall is worth plugging their names in.

Another recommendation is catching the chairlift up to the Knoll Ridge Cafe at Whakapapa. Spectacular views, nice modern cafe, fun of a chairlift ride for the kids and there will likely be a few snow patches for them to play in as well. I'm not sure what is running at the moment (their website is ambiguous). There have been a lot of changes this year under a new CEO and while the chairs used to stop for a period inbetween summer sightseeing and winter skiing, I suspect they may be running all year now. An investment bank breaks down the cost of a cheap EV part by part, and finds that they are thousands cheaper than originally thought, and that there's room for more savings, so EVs will soon be cheaper than petrol equivalents.

As my brother put it; stop opening shit you weren't expecting. Stop visiting dodgy sites. Get remote backups for the other 0.001%

I tried it for a about 10 minutes one game and discarded it. Felt like my head was cooking. Then again that was in Brisbane. In colder climes it may be different.

But as mentioned, at junior level 95% of kids here use headgear. It's almost as important as a mouth guard.

This could be interesting, Dickinson has the science on her side and the anti fluoride weirdos are prone to saying things like Hitler put fluoride in the water to make the population docile .
Yeah that worked out well didn't it?

    Also Nanogirl is quite hot.

@Baron-Silas-Greenback similar story for us in Wellington. We had rain overnight and a bit of wind, but nothing like Wahine level storm they were talking about. I'm all good with a safety first approach though, especially as the storm did cause some serious damage in other parts of the country.

It's OK, no need to panic. We can just vaccinate all the children.
Surely no one would object to that idea?

I was joking about State Highway 1. That will be a mammoth undertaking. Downtown Christchurch on the other hand, Fukushima will be habitable before that's fixed.

Far out, that artwork on the water tank of Dog looking up at a bright twinkling star puts something in my eye, too.

    If anyone dares graffiti that...
