Watched the one about Len Bias, but the best one I've seen was Reggie vs the Knicks. Those guys really played like they hated one another and it was a time in the NBA when they let them do it. That playoff game when Reggie scored something like 8 points in 30 seconds was one of the greatest playoff moments I can remember -

I still rate the Ricky Williams episode as my fave. Enjoyed the recent one on O.J. too. <br />
<br />
I well remember one of my best pals - a huge Celtics fan - on a payphone in Queenstown long-distance call to a buddy when he heard the news Len Bias overdosed. Went out and got drunk. -
Anybody here watch "Destination Truth"? I guess I'm a fan 'cos I've seen most of 'em, and enjoy host Josh Gates' sense o' humour. <br />
<br />
I watched one the other night where Gates and his team headed to the Rotorua area looking for the Taniwha. Had to laugh when they get attacked by thick swarm of bugs. (What are those bugs? I've seen sandflies pretty bad in Fiordland, but never anything like the airborne infestation that hit Gates in the North Island.) <br />
<br />
Gates and a zoologist conclude the mythical (?) Taniwha is most likely a big eel. The episode is available on youtube, coupled with a creepy feature about a ghost mining town in Chile.<br />
<br />
There's also a different (most recent, from late April 2010) episode where he goes looking for the Giant Moa.<br />
Think that RT and RC have pumped the show on here before, but I'd also like to give it a thumbs up. Watched "June 17, 1994" last night and it was damn good. It's a continuous montage of tv clips from the day that the NY Knicks played in the finals, the soccer WC was opening in Chicago, Arnold Palmer played his last round at the US Open, the NY Rangers celebrated their Stanley Cup win, MLB was in action, and oh yeah, OJ Simpson went on the run. Recommended, and on youtube. <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' /><br />

I was hosting members from the rock-punk band Drive Like Jehu the night the Rangers won Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final at a bar in Toronto. The band was from San Diego, and clueless about ice hockey, so they were peppering me the entire night to explain the rules to them. They thought it was real exotic. (I rushed out to catch the last set of the Tindersticks afterwards. Toronto stank like a sewer that night.)<br />
<br />
The O.J. Bronce "chase" ran opposite the NBA Finals, and I can never forget NBC doing the split-screen showing the live final and OJ. In the 30 on 30 doc, Bob Costas does a good job explaining where the network priority was focused and explaining why they did what they did. Still kinda hard to believe. Even crazier, OJ was an NBC employee at the time, so the broadcasters were watching their workmate on a suicide run. Truly one of the most surreal moments in tv history, even if you weren't a Bills fan. -

Yep big fan,came across the show couple months back,just waiting for the new series now.<br />
The taniwha episode was strange,first time i had heard it could be real!<br />
<br />
Recommended show to see,always finding some interesting evidence.<br />

<br />
There's another show I've started watching called "Monsterquest" which searches for lake monsters, Big-Foot, etc. Pretty interesting, but lacks the humour of Gates.<br />
<br />
For years I used to believe David Attenborough had the world's best/most fun job, but I'm beginning to think it might be Josh Gates.<br />
<br />
I am still very much a skeptic about cryptozoology, but like yourself fascinated. I used to work in a bookstore and would always kill hours reading The Fortean Times, and wanted to believe that somewhere a Giant Moa was still alive.<br />
<br />
Been watching a lot of "UFO Hunters," too, very entertaining and educational. Do I believe everything? Umm, no. But I come by it naturally. When I was a kid in NZ in the early 1970s I was addicted to that Gerry Anderson series "UFO" (currently in production for a big-budget movie adaptation), as well as the mid-1970s "documentary" series "In Search Of" with Leonard Nimoy. I still love all that stuff. -

Yup been watching Monsterquest as well (though now it has been canceled)<br />
<br />
Absolutely Gates has the best job in the world, a couple of his female companions on the show aint too shabby to look at either. (notice how when he does a sweep hes nearly always with them?)<br />
<br />
UFO's dont quite do it for me, Ghosts etc a bit. Ghost Hunters is a great laugh. Especially for the drama they have within their own team.<br />
Plus the occasional decent piece of strange evidence they stumble across.<br />
<br />
When i was a kid the best show to watch was 'Arthur C Clarke's Mysterious World'<br />
<br />
Theres a few more out there i see popping up, unfortunately i have to download them to see them, they rarely appear on NZ tv (even Sky) -

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Destination_Truth
Hah, just watched that episode. Had to crack up when they shit themselves in the middle of the night out in the bush when they hear a morepork and think they've stumbled onto something big. Then identify it at the end of the show as a kakapo....great stuff. -

True, that's always funny. It's dark, he's headed into the bush, takes along a cutie, and, uhh, "Hey guys, I'm taking Jael and sweeping the perimeter," heh-heh.<br />
<br />
Could be judicious video-editing, but he does seem to be a fairly brave (and possibly stupid!) guy, never seems afraid of a dark hole he won't climb headfirst down into or a third-world airplane held together with bungey-cords, take me over those mountains! He's bonkers, but in a good way. -
BBC Crime Drama Luther just finished up over here. Only saw about half of the 6 episodes by fluke but it was really good. If it comes on tele anywhere else I'd highly recommend.
<br />

Gotta second that. Caught up with this on the PVR over the last week or so. Awesome 6-parter with Idris Elba. Second series is planned as well -

GREAT NEWS! I thought that show was going to be one and done after it disappeared. <br />
<br />
Just watched the ESPN doco on the 1995 RWC. Obviously a bad ending but it was a good watch. The series has been excellent -
I also enjoyed the latest 30 for 30 episode, The Two Escobars, which covers the lives of Colombian soccer player Andres Escobar (who scored the own goal in the 94 World Cup) and cartel kingpin Pablo and the links between the lives and murders of both, as well as the links between the drug cartels and soccer in Columbia. The 30 for 30 specials have been bloody well done.
<br />
<br />
Watched that episode last night. It was gripping, epic stuff, one of the best ones so far, IMO worthy of its' own theatrical release. -
started on S3 of Breaking Bad...looking good already!

That was an amazing story, it could have been a Tom Clancy novel if it wasn't already true. I really enjoyed the Knicks vs Reggie one too, I'd forgotten how combative the NBA was back in the day -
especially when I read somewhere it may be being canned???

Nope, renewed for a 4th season already. Great show. -
Anyone catch This Is Not My Life yesterday? It's by one of the people that created Outrageous Fortune (and another Outrageous writer) and stars Charles Mesure (Gerard in Outrageous Fortune and in V). They've got the first two episodes on TVNZ's site, I just started watching the second one, really liking it so far.
