There's also a different (most recent, from late April 2010) episode where he goes looking for the Giant Moa.

Yep big fan,came across the show couple months back,just waiting for the new series now. 
The taniwha episode was strange,first time i had heard it could be real! 
 
Recommended show to see,always finding some interesting evidence.

There's another show I've started watching called "Monsterquest" which searches for lake monsters, Big-Foot, etc. Pretty interesting, but lacks the humour of Gates. 
 
For years I used to believe David Attenborough had the world's best/most fun job, but I'm beginning to think it might be Josh Gates. 
 
I am still very much a skeptic about cryptozoology, but like yourself fascinated. I used to work in a bookstore and would always kill hours reading The Fortean Times, and wanted to believe that somewhere a Giant Moa was still alive. 
 
Been watching a lot of "UFO Hunters," too, very entertaining and educational. Do I believe everything? Umm, no. But I come by it naturally. When I was a kid in NZ in the early 1970s I was addicted to that Gerry Anderson series "UFO" (currently in production for a big-budget movie adaptation), as well as the mid-1970s "documentary" series "In Search Of" with Leonard Nimoy. I still love all that stuff.

Yup been watching Monsterquest as well (though now it has been canceled) 
 
Absolutely Gates has the best job in the world, a couple of his female companions on the show aint too shabby to look at either. (notice how when he does a sweep hes nearly always with them?) 
 
UFO's dont quite do it for me, Ghosts etc a bit. Ghost Hunters is a great laugh. Especially for the drama they have within their own team. 
Plus the occasional decent piece of strange evidence they stumble across. 
 
When i was a kid the best show to watch was 'Arthur C Clarke's Mysterious World' 
 
Theres a few more out there i see popping up, unfortunately i have to download them to see them, they rarely appear on NZ tv (even Sky)

Had to crack up when they shit themselves in the middle of the night out in the bush when they hear a morepork and think they've stumbled onto something big. Then identify it at the end of the show as a kakapo....great stuff.

True, that's always funny. It's dark, he's headed into the bush, takes along a cutie, and, uhh, "Hey guys, I'm taking Jael and sweeping the perimeter," heh-heh. 
 
Could be judicious video-editing, but he does seem to be a fairly brave (and possibly stupid!) guy, never seems afraid of a dark hole he won't climb headfirst down into or a third-world airplane held together with bungey-cords, [I]take me over those mountains![/I] He's bonkers, but in a good way.

Just watched the ESPN doco on the 1995 RWC. Obviously a bad ending but it was a good watch. The series has been excellent

Watched that episode last night. It was gripping, epic stuff, one of the best ones so far, IMO worthy of its' own theatrical release.

That was an amazing story, it could have been a Tom Clancy novel if it wasn't already true. I really enjoyed the Knicks vs Reggie one too, I'd forgotten how combative the NBA was back in the day
