@MN5 its bit damning that it feels there are a few guys that seems to get worse the longer they are in the AB environment

Were you talking about players or coaching staff?

Wonder if Joe Schimdt is a shoe in for the Wales job. If he wants to be closer to home, maybe he gets a role in NZ.

@SBW1 thinking that Joe will return to Auckland, possibly with a position with his old mate Vern, or maybe even Auckland NPC,

I wonder why he is quitting? Anyone have any scoop? Seems a hard job to keep for some reason.

Family. His son has medical support needs and both his son and Joe's wife live in New Zealand so he doesn't want to be away from them as much as the wallabies coaching role requires.

I got impression he took Wallabies job with some push from WR. If he was real keen I sure his son could get good care/help in Aus too, but Joe never intended (or I think was interested) in more than a caretaker role to help sort them out. Was a bit like WR was pretty keen on Aus getting 27 WC, as they needed help to get books sorted etc.

I suspect that they'd rather be at home near family support?

For sure mate, just saying if he was real keen etc. It seems he was struggling when coaching Ireland with the whole head coach gig at test level, was wearing him down a fair bit. Well that's what Hansen said, they pretty good mates.

He has at least stabilized the dumpster fire that was the Wallabies. Up to them not to screw up the next appointment. Kiss from the Reds would seem a decent hire. And Latham has been around for some time

Just read that Latham is off to coach in MLR, says he needs experience, and hopes to work his way up to Reds. He nowhere near an international coach.

i had assumed thing had changed for him when he took the Wallabies job, his son didn;t need as much support or something

Pretty sure it was because of relationships rather than any push from WR.

Family. His son has medical support needs and both his son and Joe's wife live in New Zealand so he doesn't want to be away from them as much as the wallabies coaching role requires.

Yep well push maybe wrong word, but I have heard Schmidt say something along the lines that WR had involvement, or something like that. Not suggesting any wrong doing or anything, but Aus is (I pretty sure) considered fairly important to WR that they are competitive etc. They don't want country losing rugby as such.

@Dan54 I’m sure WR was not displeased. But don’t think that was a motivation.

From watching the 1996 Super Rugby first game - our first fives do not have big boots, I would say that other than a fluke, that none of them could kick from 22 to 22.

Bring back big thighs and big boots.

Good. Even though parts of our game plan have gone stale in the last few years, something we always have is talent in our own backyard.
