At what point does Mark Robinson's position become untenable?
How many things has he messed up since taking over for Tew?
How is Robinson responsible for INEOS not paying money? Genuine question, if you booted any CEO because a company they has agreement with didn't come up with coin, I imagine there wouldn't be many CEOs lasting long.
If they did a due diligence they'd see he's got buckets of cash. He just doesn't want to give us what he owes
Yep, but he has for 3 years, pretty sure due diligence doesn't cover people being an arsehole 3 years down the track. He's done the same to Ben Ainslie's America's cup team too. And seems is stuffing up Man United ?

Ultimately it's on NZR/Robinson who they engage with as sponsors
Optically this is a terrible look.
I never said you would boot the CEO for this matter alone - if this was an isolated incident that would be one thing but Mark Robinson's track record is not great.
I have no idea what is happening with the Silver Lake deal but it would be nice to know?

Deal is done, SL own a part of NZR commercial and get money each year based on income (not profit).
If you mean 'what are SL doing to enhance the value of NZR commercial'? Fuck knows, looks like nothing at all
-
im starting to think the SL was more simple than i thought...that what they were bring to the party other than money was minor...they gave us some money now....to get a share of commercial income down the track...and we almost certainly got screwed over

That was always the risk…they said we have all this expertise….trust us…..we will help “you” grow new revenue streams…
I hope there was a plan?

Please correct me if I’m wrong. Isn’t silver lake involved in phone apps.
So now everything with rugby in nz you have to be signed up to rugby explorer app.
Super rugby fantasy is an app.
I’m sure someone knows more about it than that. -

SL is an investment firm focused on tech, I am sure that they do stuff with apps, but everything has nowadays
Super rugby fantasy is an app.
However, maybe not everything due stuff with apps, as SR Fantasy is not an app at all, it is web based. SR also is a different entity to what SL has interest in
-
@Machpants I haven’t even looked at fantasy so just thought it was an app.

This is not on NZR. Its not on Robinson.
Everything that happens is not always their fault

If it waddles and quacks during duck season, I'm shooting at it.

Interesting. Imo it would be better to get an agreed severance fee, and look for another sponsor than go legally chasing them. That's what ineos are saying they tried too do - with NZR cutting off nose to spite face actions over the last few years it wouldn't surprise me. Yes if you win, your legal costs are paid but it'll drag out and if you don't win?
Maybe NZR realise they have let the abs commercial value slide so much they won't get another sponsor, or at least nothing enough significant. Tied with a reduced sky cuntsn coming up, they feel they have to get the ineos money - all or nothing attempt

I think you forgot this is a rugby forum Grubs, obviously if the market in Europe has gone tits up (basically like a lot of things over covid etc) NZR should of known about it and prevented it, I wouldn't be surprised to see Ben Ainslie sue NZR for not forseeing it happening, so he's lost his, and even the Ineos Grenadiers are looking for more sponsors. NZR have a lot to answer for here!!!
-
@Machpants not to mention he probably has some handy lawyers and deeper pockets than NZR, not that it would likely ever end up in court the way all that shit works.

Chasing the money suggests the settlement was not much. If it was a years worth it would have given them a chance to change without the drama.

The sponsorship has been reported as being NZ$8M a year, way less than the weekly player salary total at Man Utd. If Ratcliffe was only offering a fraction of that, legal action is the only option.
