you overly excitable highlanders blokes need to pump the brakes a little bit. jagging a couple of wins in cricket season against the dumbest Blues performance this decade, and scraping home over MP does not suddenly elevate your players to higher honours.

When the Chiefs sucked did you see our fans trying to make calls for Callum Bruce and Loki Crichton to make the ABs? No, you did not.

You're right, instead we got mainstays like Latimer and de Malmanche.

Kirifi and Tangitau are two that deserve to get themselves in there.

The conversation around incumbents v uncapped is that the uncapped player has to be clearly better. If they are as good, then the incumbent stays.

As much as I really like Jim Tavatavanawai. I can't see him ever being an All Black. He is the perfect super rugby player. Just probably isn't an international quality 12 or winger. While his fetching may not be required if there are other players that bring the skillset in the team.

The incumbent needs to demonstrate the ability at test level.

          Let's take Havili.

Havili was rocks and diamonds vs Chiefs but those frailties haven't been exposed by the other teams

It's no wonder when you look at those other teams Crusaders have played

          • understrength Canes midfield
          • understrength Reds 10-12
          • understrength Force
          • deadshit 2025 Blues

Carving up vs the above teams tells us exactly what in relation to Havili at test level? Fuck all

Kirifi really needs to be given good game time to see what he can bring.

Mr Caleb Tangitau, yet again in a losing team is a clear man of the match. The black jersey awaits.

100% Be nice to have a winger with pace

But it is unlikely to happen I bet.

He's got a lot more than just pace, vision and decision making is top notch, plus not averse to linking with his team.

As I said in the game thread, really reminds me of Tana.

But yeah, got to get past Fihaki first.

Iose put in a great performance at 6, if he can maintain that and his form at 8, Blackadder can bugger off too.

Iose has had a really slow start to this year but good to see him finally hitting him some form. Hope they keep him there, the Iose, Kirifi, Lakai trio is quite dynamic but they seem to compliment each other nicely.

Roberston won't pick any of these guys anyway (Kirifi/Iose). He's almost certain to pick world beaters like Grace and Blackadder because they've looked good at home against an understrength Force, Canes and Reds team.

There is something about seeing a big dude running from the back fence. Seeing Iose doing it last night was awesome.

But as @Canes4life says we can expdxt Blackadder, Grace and Lio-Willie to make it.

If Iose can continue his form, especially in terms back end of.the.season, whereas he started on fire last year and tailed off, who knows.

Iose looks a handy 6/8 player, but I guess if fit and in form, Blackadder does give better versatility for a squad, but being fit and in form...

@taniwharugby I think the only thing I'd pick an in form Blackadder over Iose for would be tackle attempts. I don't see why Iose couldn't cover 7 to the same degree (i.e McCaw at about 20%).

@Canes4life yeah he certainly played a lot "tougher" than usual yesterday, although stats would be interesting.

Roberston won't pick any of these guys anyway (Kirifi/Iose). He's almost certain to pick world beaters like Grace and Blackadder because they've looked good at home against an understrength Force, Canes and Reds team.

                                          Dear God.

What next, a recall for Dallas McLeod ?

I'm not even commenting on Blackadder, we know he's a shoe in.

                                          Razor press conference in June

"Ethan has shown unbelievable character to shrug off so many injuries and get a whole season of Super Rugby under his belt. I'm so rapt that he's finally had the opportunity to show everyone how ineffective he can be at this level which will translate to test Rugby brilliantly. Picking him was as big a no brainer as picking David Havili"
