Looks like Beaudy is already at the old man's farm and ready for team naming on Monday. Guessing will see him watching Coastal's game on Saturday.

Looks like he is straight out of an advertising catalogue. Not a Toyota though

You don’t select them all for the 23, but having a quicker and specialist loosie like Kirifi on the bench along with another specialist 6 (or 8), as well as your lock, then you have forward impact plus necessary size.

                Looking at Canefan's suggested list:

                LOOSE FORWARDS:

                Peter Lakai (Hurricanes)
                Ardie Savea (Moana Pasifika)
                Dalton Papali'i (Blues)
Luke Jacobsen (Chiefs)/Lio-Willie (Crusaders)/Hoskins Sotutu (Blues)
                Du Plessis Kirifi (Hurricanes)
                Samipeni Finau (Chiefs)
                Wallace Sititi (Chiefs)

Take out the big body (Finau) and then what are we left with to shove into the match 23? If there's no Sotutu (given he can only play 8 and 12) then the biggest is Jacobsen - that's a dangerously small loose forward trio for Test rugby no matter what way we put it.

So either we add a fit Parker (hopefully) or more loose forward spots at the expense of some other position in the squad. I don't see the point in carrying Lakai, Sititi and Kirifi, especially if Ardie's SR form at openside gives Razor the impetus to put him in there. They're all just too much alike for me.

@MN5 he's done it for the Blues in an emergency and been pretty handy at it. He's got very good skills (hence why he's a good 8 IMO).

An Ardie - Sotutu midfield pairing would have some punch.

May be better than the current pairing if the brains trust attack of having both centres just bash it up on short balls is going to stay.

Sotutu would be an excellent option to cover the backs if you ran a 6-2 bench

He's played first five at senior club level.

He was very fucking useful when he had to go to 12 in a super game. It's not ideal of course, but we have a range of players around at the moment who are specialists but could bridge a gap in an emergency. I'd much prefer Razor et al to be brave and choose them with a 6:2 and go chase games, even though we would taking some risks with it.

The current approach is risky too as we have players that don't add impact and get carded.

That's an excellent point, it's risky in the opposite direction to expect a 5:3 split of generalists to be able to take on what amounts to 3/4 of a fresh pack in the final 30 minutes of a test.

I'd much prefer Razor et al to be brave and choose them with a 6:2 and go chase games, even though we would taking some risks with

                                  Agreed.

The current approach is risky too as we have players that don't add impact and get carded.

That's an excellent point, it's risky in the opposite direction to expect a 5:3 split of generalists to be able to take on what amounts to 3/4 of a fresh pack in the final 30 minutes of a test.

An Ardie - Sotutu midfield pairing would have some punch.

May be better than the current pairing if the brains trust attack of having both centres just bash it up on short balls is going to stay.

maybe thats why they have big jim...if savea moves to midfield they need a good ball fetcher at 7

That'd make me laugh and cry with despair.

Not sure if this has been mentioned but both Josh Fusitua & Josh Beehre have been added to the All Black training camp .
Got this from a reasonably reliable source
