@brodean why does that matter? Razor has never coached him so don't see any connection

There's been a bunch of Crusaders selections that have been a bit on the nose so it won't be surprising.

If he's selected over any of the other three of Roe, Fakatava or Funaki he is being selected as a bolter based on potential.

    So we need halfbacks 4&5.

Highlanders: Fakatava, Lennox, Arscott and Hastie.

Only Fakatava is a viable option.

    Crusaders: Drummond and Preston.

Would be a massive shout to bring Preston in there.

    Hurricanes: Viljoen.

    No show.

    Chiefs: Roe.

    Outside chance.

    Blues: Funaki, Nock and Christie.

    Christie the best option.

Out of that lot, Fakatava and Christie have to be favoured. With Roe and Preston as outside chances.

At this point, with Roigard and Hotham down for the Pumas tests, at least one of the injury covers needs international experience, so Christie is a non brainer.
The Argie gig is not a development tour.

Christie was pulled out due to a shoulder injury.

With Christie, we've experienced his experience and it's a no from me.

Folly is a dog returning to its own vomit or the All Blacks coaching team continually picking players whose skills clearly aren't up to international standard.

Sounds like some of these injuries is more precautionary than anything.

Viljoen might have been a goer now if he’d not been bizarrely overlooked for Enari consistently for some reason during Super Rugby. I rate him, probably higher than Roe.

You think so? I think he's a bloody good 9 at NPC level, still needs to sharpen his pass. Never really saw him as a high level halfback.

Was really impressed last year when he deputised when Roigard was out but maybe it’s just me

If were World Cup year then considering Christie might be an option

But we're not, so pick Fakatava. Roe or Funaki

I'm going the opposite to you.

Roe and Preston. Fakatava for Preston maybe.

Not picking Viljoen yet. But agree his absence was bizarre.

The Eden Park record makes me want experience. There will be two injury covers, so FC and Funaki or Fakatava.

I just don't see two debutants coming in. Especially as 4th/5th ranked in the position. If they are bringing in guys for a game or two. Best to be lads who have previously been involved in the system.

Okay, what I think the AB squad will be (not what I'd like to it be):

Props: Williams, De Groot, Norris, Newell, Tosi, Dyer
    Hookers: Taylor, Taukei'aho, Aumua
Locks: S Barrett, Vaii, Holland, Tuipolutu, Darry
Back row: Finau, Kirifi, Blackadder, Sititi, Lakai, Savea, Lio-Willie
    Half Backs: Ratima, Christie, Fakatava
    First Fives: B Barrett, DMac
Midfield: Jodie Barrett, Tavatavanawai, Tupaea, Proctor
Back Three: R Ioane, Reece, Narawa, Jordan, Love

@sparky think it will be a squad of 37. Would be surprised if ALB misses out.
