ANALYSIS: Scott Robertson oversaw his fifth loss since taking charge of the All Blacks on Sunday, as they went down 29-23 against Argentina in Buenos Aires. I really hate comments like that - it's as if he thinks goal-kicking doesn't count. And comments like that really grate given we lost a World Cup final two years ago because we couldn't kick our goals.
What is undeniable is that, despite all our lamentations about the ABs, the Pumas only just got up.
BB kicks one conversion and Pumas late penalty correctly called as going outside left hand post and it was 26 - 22 when we get that last penalty.
ABs could easily have won that match, and without the mystery Vaa’i yellow almost certainly would have.
In other words the gloom and doom has been heavily overdone, which is JP’s point I think.
We should be belting teams so dodgy TMO calls and missed conversions dont matter.
Like the away fighter who knows he wont get the rub of the judges score cards.......knock them out.

@pakman I'd argue the doom and gloom about that performance is, if anything, under done.
The ABs missed 40 tackles. The backline made only one line break and between them just 72 minutes. The ABs were stuffed in terms of territory, possession and the aerial battle.
It wasn't an unlucky defeat. It was an absolute mugging by the side ranked Seven in the world. The score line massively flattered the All Blacks.
It was one of the very worst All Blacks I've seen in 40 years of supporting the side in bad and mostly good times.
And no amount of spin by Scott Robertson's pals on TV will change my mind.
Which brings me to the central point. Our current Head Coach seems exceptional at media management and spin, but not nearly so good at getting the best out of his players in the test arena.

Argentina are always tough at home. But we were so fundamentally poor it was disgraceful. We could very well turn it around for the Boks. That in itself will be an indictment on the coaching group as it would suggest they took them lightly and failed to adequately prepare the team for Argie 2

When he debuted for the Canes Nonu was raw powerful and exciting but he tended to make fundamental errors that were exposed when he first played for the All Blacks. Over time he polished those edges and also added a decent kicking game and a very good passing game, two things that he never had at the start. Combined with his brutal physicality Nonu was a complete midfielder for the second half of his all black career. He also had a durability that is evident to this day as he still continues to play professionally

I remember the turnaround. Nothing spectacular just solid progress. We went from cringing when he came on a replacement to breathing a sigh of relief when he did.

I remember the turnaround. Nothing spectacular just solid progress. We went from cringing when he came on a replacement to breathing a sigh of relief when he did.
For a while he seemed to act a little too cool, which rubbed some up the wrong way. But once he nailed down he was a killer. Still remember him stepping out of John Smit's grasp in his 100th test and smashing Giteau out of the 2015 final

They have come close before. I don't think it was unrealistic to say they are generally tough at home. And I didn't say anywhere that the doom and gloom was overdone

He had off days. Outsanding generally, but there were days he struggled with the boot.
I remember a game against the Bokke where he missed a lot ... even the best have off days.
Yeah I was watching highlights of a test from that golden era where he played well in general play but missed at least 3 goal kicks. One was pretty standard too.
