I’d love to see Cam Roigard or Tupou Vaa’i made captain - a statement of intent, ala Siya Kolisi being made the Boks captain in 2018, a look to the future rather than going back. It wouldn’t solve everything but it would reset things to an extent.

Vaai is a bit of a douchebag to be honest. Playing well but carrying on like a tit.

Thinking for future…Would people take John Mitchell back as head coach in future? He’s got lots of international experience as an assistant and may well lead England’s women to WC success.

    Shit yeah.

He could go one better and get FIFTEEN Crusaders in the AB starting line up.

I remember not being crazy with Hansen then he got the job and we were. winning and I liked him ,

I reckon I’d like any coach if they brought success , dont care about th3 personality, just establish a winning culture and I’ll be a fan .

    Steve Hansens 3 non negotiable's.

Number 1 : The Team comes first.

"when we had to make tough decisions the team came above the individual".

This is where the current and previous set up falls down.

Beaudy, ALB, Rieko, Reece, Perenara, Christie, Scooter as captain, all examples of tough decisions not being made.

This has to be a troll.

    Hell no.

And you wouldn't be able to call him Captain Combover.

Why would they be unhappy? Zero accountability. Fat pay cheques. Guaranteed spots. No pressure to deliver just appear to try and create sick content for the "rugby is just different" crowd.

I don't know, seems that people like Sam Cane felt a lot pressure from the public. I doubt many play just to pick up cheques.

    That ... seems fair.
I don't think he has huge Crusader bias but I do think he values loyalty to players (and his personal experience with them) above what is best for the team.

One thing is becoming clear: Super form is not a great indicator of international form.

Also, we have to recycle forwards if they play abrasive teams like the Boks just a week apart. The forwards don't recover in time.

Which people will again forget once the Crusaders win yet another title and we see Sevu Reece wheeled out again with the same people demanding guys like David Havili, Ethan Blackadder and co. to be added back into the squad.

But you'd be right; he'd be a much better coach now than he was back then.

Lots and lots and lots of learnings.

    Very very tough
Most of those guys will be on very fat, and very long contracts.

But NZR does have a lot of players on their books.
All pro players in NZ (including provincial) are NZR employees.
600 to 700 players to choose from.

    Not learnings, journeys....

Heard him talking about legacy, England and winning the women's RWC25. Still sounded full of shit

We could have fielded a back three of Clarke - Jordie - Jordan and completely nullified their kicking game, but our coaches are too stupid

As in Will Jordan? Catch and offload to a person in a worse position will Jordan? Any skill outside of just running the ball is not Will's strength.

Yes with Jordie and Clarke at the back he'd barely have to catch a ball, just play support and run em back all night...

Has Razor lost the dressing room?

    Did he ever have it?

    It's a fair question.

He's lucky he has the media and public wrapped around his finger. He has a great PR team.

I always wanted to like the guy, and still want us to turn it around, be that with him or someone else, but was put off from the beginning with that cringe 3 part doco with Jim Kayes, along with the breakdancing and things I mentioned earlier.

Yep, all that cringe PR stuff on top of the fact he took on senior ABs who had come out in support of their previous coach over him. I'm not convinced he's ever had the full buy in from the players and the sooner we can move on the better now.

    Very precarious

It seems like the game plan is based off 9 and there is a massive drop off when he’s unavailable

Mitchell leading England women to a RWC victory is not exactly a great achievement. They are streets ahead of anyone else in terms of environment, funding and professionalism. It'll be an indictment if they don't win it with a significant margin.
