I cant help but think about the clip of Harry Wilson in extra time against Arg last week when they had just won a penalty. Thinks for a moment, looks at his team, points directly at the corner then turns around and screams at his forwards with belief.

The guy is 25 years old, 20 something caps. Has been there through some fucking shit wallabies seasons over the past few years. Lifted the team. Not that hes the perfect player but fuck it feels like something the all blacks need. I dont know who could bring that for us, but it feels like its not there.

I feel like everyone thinks ardie is like that, but i actually dont think ardie would believe in his team as much as he just believes in himself. Jordie to be fair plays with his heart but Im not sure hes up for bossing his older brothers/older team mates around like he needs to. I dont know. Roigard really seems like that kind of no-nonsense operator and works fucking hard, but needs to keep fit for a while first.

I do think the team lacks men.

In the old sense....I know this sounds like such a dinosaur thing to say, but when I look at Reinach I see a man. When I look at Roigard I see a boy.

Same for PSDT, Etzebeth, Marx and the rest. Men.

We are an easy on the eye, well manicured, clean shaven, well spoken bunch.

Roigard literally shits all over Reinach so I'm missing the point being made here.

    I just meant optically.

We are a youthful, fresh faced nice team to play.

    "Uncle Siya, Uncle Siya"

The jolly old allblacks indeed. Great bunch of lads.

    Fair.

Although tbh I feel like we have more assholes in the team than ever. It's just that they're also massive losers used to losing so they also look extremely bitter while being twats.

Case in point, Rieko is one of the biggest twats we've ever had, Whitelock was a twat, Scott looks like a twat, we have a lot of unlikable players/faces.

Compared to the golden age of McCaw/Carter/Mealamu/Conrad/Rokocoko/Mils/Jane etc etc

The team was full of nice guys..who were also so clearly dominant and completely comfortable with themselves that they didn't have to act like spoilt children on the field like some of our current loser players do.

I would never call McCaw or Mealamu or most of that squad "nice". They weren't dickheads, but they were ruthless pro's.

Mealamu was sending players back to their hotel rooms for coming down to breakfast in singlets as it was uncouth and ill-befitting of professionals.

McCaw wouldnt even take on a serious romantic relationship until his career was essentially over.

    They were aloof, unapproachable pro's.

Roy Keane gives out stink about players swapping jerseys at half time, smiling in the tunnel, handshakes pre game etc. He won 7 premier leagues.

You can do all the "uncle Siya, uncle Siya" stuff on the podcast circuit post career.

Siya was stood in the world rugby awards side by side with Ardie saying "im so proud of him" and patting Sititi on the head last year after his debut.

Kolisi should be getting spat out the back of our rucks covered in stud marks, not patronising our so called star players.

Remember the first time we did kapa o pango against the Boks?

I turned to my brother and said "they are fucking getting it today". You could see it, feel it.

This bunch has no mongrel. No guys happy to run around and just wreck the opposition.
Like PSDT does/did in the RWC final for example.

    Just revel in smashing people.

Remember how Collins put manners on Chabal?

We have guys sea gulling on the wing and looking for a Hollywood pilfer. But these highlights are not going to get us where we need to be.

We need head down arse up grunt. Like we got from the Franks brothers, Brad Thorn, Retallick, Kaino etc

NZ is a small country, and people talk, a lot. It is also a very mediocre country, mostly run by low potential people. Not quite a Kakistocracy, but getting there. Anyway, the rumours are flying, but some of them are good.

Scott Hansen is not rated by many of the players, and his communication is poor. The forgotten backs coach is fed up with Robertson, and has been shut out.

Perhaps of most interest for us posters is that the coaches regard DMac as an idiot who cannot follow instructions, and think that Bueaden Barrett's kicking game is excellent, and if you do not appreciate it, then you do not understand rugby.

Make of that what you will.

I would not say that it bodes well.

I can believe the Scott Hansen bit. His media appearances are the NZ version of David Brent - all buzzwords with little to no clarity. Imagine having to decipher the attack strategy. No wonder it is difficult to understand what the ABs are doing on attack.

The only bit that appears to be working on attack are the strike plays, and that is Jason Holland's role.

Has Robertson lost the dressing room - not just the players, but his coaching team too?

A lot of players were very loyal to Foster. They have welcomed Robertson, but there is still some suspicion about a guy who participated in the media leaks to try to get him fired.

My 2 cents is that going from Schmidt to morons like Robertson, Ryan, and Hansen must have been a very hard sell.

I remember his first interview on the Aotearoa pod.

Bryn asks him "why did you pick Scooter as Captain"........Hansen replies. "you tell me, you played with him".

Hansen asked about dodgy TMO calls that incorrectly ruled out Tosi's try for blocking.

"Next week we hope the the TMO can enjoy the match with a cup of tea".

    The chap is insufferable.

@stodders but this iteration of BB is not new is it, so are successive coaches (super and international) playing him the same, or is this all BB is capable.of playing?

There have always been questions over his ability to drive the game from 10, its been his pace, instincts and a bit of luck that saw hk play some sublime rugby, but has any of it truly been structured and fitting into a gameplan?

Why the flying fuck do they persist with Beauden Barrett at First Five?

His game management is atrocious these days.

Robertson is more motivator than coach. He’s seen Barrett perform at his peak before, nearly a decade ago, and believes he can 'inspire' him to reach that level again. He’s not instructing Barrett on how to play, just urging him to bring out his best game the way he plays it. With others, he doesn’t have that reference point. Having never seen them excel at test level, he can’t be sure they’re capable of it and so he can’t be sure he can motivate them toward it. The majority of the new players he's selected have only made the team when the players Robertson wanted to select were injured. And when they step up, he's happy to keep them but that hasn't happened at first five yet.
