We could have fielded a back three of Clarke - Jordie - Jordan and completely nullified their kicking game, but our coaches are too stupid
Not with Jordan there but I agree on the other two.
Next year when we come up against the boks we should be trying to develop a backline so we can have 11. Caleb Clark 15. Jordie Barret and 14. Someone who can catch the high ball.
Sad to say but I think Jordan is the modern equivalent of Joe Rokocoko and Sitiveni Sivivatu. Can't remember him every playing well against the South Africans, certainly not in any of the recent matches. I think as a confidence player he immediately is thrown off when they are the opponents now.
He is such a liability under the high ball against them it is pointless to proceed with him playing out wide for the All Blacks against any opposition. I know this won't be popular given past failures doing it and I am not suggesting it occurs at All Black level but maybe Will Jordan should be dropped and told to go back to Canterbury and focus on learning to play centre and again next season start for the Crusaders at centre for a season in Super rugby and see if he is good enough to make the All Blacks in that position.
Nope disagree totally.
Dump your most potent attacking weapon doesn’t make sense to me no one in the back 3 caught anything so on that basis Carter ,D Mac and Love should all go as well.
We might as well pick 2 metre locks in the back 3 they could catch the high ball but can’t do much with it. -

Will has 2 bad games under the high ball and everyone goes into a panic
Correct me if I’m wrong but I didn’t see him drop one high ball the other day and his defence was very strong. Still the best outside back in NZ by a long shot.
Not just this game, ask @Bones, he mentions it over and over again. He makes poor mistakes that a lot of people forget because he makes a great run.
He's a winger.
Asking Bones about Will Jordan is like asking Hilary Clinton about the 2016 US election outcome….
Will is still growing into the full back position at this level. I see a lot of similarities with what happened with Ben Smith and his up and down performances when they shifted him from the right to fullback.
-
Yeah I don’t think you drop Will , he is a try scoring machine about to break Dougies long standing try scoring record with games to spare .
Trys win games .

Did Ben Smith have up and down performances at 15? If anything his average games for the ABs were at midfield, if I recall correctly.

@brodean I 100% agree with this, Leicester at 12, Jordie to 15, Will and Carter on the wings.
Leicester better be telling Penney that's where he wants to play next SR season to try and get into the All Blacks.

I actually don't mind Leicester at 12. Good shout. Then again I feel like Tupaea deserves a good run there.

I’d love Razor to just bite the bullet and chuck this backline out against the Wallabies (assuming Hotham is out injured again)
- Kyle Preston
- Ruben Love
- Leroy Carter
- Quinn Tupaea
- Leicester Fainga’anuku
- Will Jordan
- Jordie Barrett
Would like to see how Jordie would go at fullback.
Do people forget we saw how Jordie went as AB fullback? It wasn't good enough to keep him there.
That's just not true. He was world class at fullback, multiple MOTMs including his debut against the Lions. He was moved to 12 reluctantly after months and months of everyone calling for it as we had absolutely no one else to fill the gap at 12. He's had good games there, but I think his skillset is better suited to 15 at test level in the modern game.
If you have a strong defense that concedes less points, and players that can diffuse an opponents strengths (like JB would under the high ball), then games get a lot easier to win.
Helps build pressure too.
For example, how about we pick the best defensive centre we have if the team pattern isn't for him to pass anyway?
Say what you like about Reiko, like JB, he wouldn't have given up like so many others did in that last Test.
yeah, im still convinced we decide our squad and how we want to play independent of each other, we'll select slow passers at 9 and 10 (for their positions and level which they play, im sure still faster than the average person)....when trying to run a game plan of spreading the ball and quick counter attack, we'll pick slower wings....but do loads of box kicks for them to chase, we'll end up with a smaller person in a position but expect them to do crash balls

@Canes4life I like Quinn, but I don’t like his size.
-
@Canes4life Dumbest thing he could’ve done. Especially after he played an excellent game against France at Fullback. He’s never even played on the wing for Wellington let alone being chucked on for the wing for the All Blacks
Razor is so lost.

Yeah, he's chucked him on the wing twice now. Rassie is much superior in the way he manages his young talent.

No different to when DMac first made the ABs and was put on the wing off the bench. Even Beaudie was used on the wing.
Love’s time will come.
-
@ACT-Crusader I’m beginning to wonder if Love will play more than twenty or so tests. He’ll be 27 in 2028 and it doesn’t look like he’ll get much more than games against the minnows or last man standing when there are injuries like on the weekend.

He needs a Super Rugby season to show what he has there at least. I don't really see him being better than Lam at 12 and I don't see either of them moving JB from there.
-
Ant Strachan one of the few calling for Barrett to be moved aside. He called for Scott to be removed as captain and Ardie be made captain, Jordie be moved to 15, and a big movement on defense and aerially. Could have gone further as he clearly has some thoughts on change there, but wouldn't elucidate.
In response to questions about the background (i.e., coaches) he questioned the attitude towards defense and how that is coming out as a lack of defensive integrity.
He also questioned the clarity for players of their understanding of the jersey, their role, and commitment to it over the entire course of the game. He was still not prepared to say anything negative about specific coaches or players though.
Interviewer straight out asked him if Razor should go, and he avoided it. He talked about Razor's focus on culture and said that he should get more time in comparison to Foster. He is the second person to respond by saying that Foster got more shit because there was a 'ready to go' replacement in the wings (Jamie Wall was saying the same on another pod).

Unless we play with better tactics whoever we put in there is going to look less than their best

Read one earlier where Richard Loe was questioning SB as well, form and leadership.
Said when watchign several times in the 'huddles' too many people were talking, he wasnt the 'leader'
