Definition of a series is an interesting one.

Men in Black for example (I have the 1982 edition, the first 5 year update,*) defined a series as multiple matches played between two countries in one of those countries in a single year (it might have in a single seaso as opposed to a year ... but semantics, as I'm not sure there were too many incidences where the definition was tested).

Subsequent to the early 80s NZ and Aus starred playing Home-and-Away series (will have to look up first occurrence but definitely recall it in 1991).

    So the definitions morph.

1996 of course we won 3-1 in SA, but only 2-1 in the series, the first test being excluded from the tour as it was Tri-Nations.

Playing an extra test as part of the series is therefore not that odd.

*they were intending to update every 5 years. Not sure it worked out that way. Ron Palenski did an update I think at knew stage, taking over from the original authors Chester and MacMillan. But I digress.

Could well be, I see any of them being good, Cardiff would do, I don't have a preference.
Lol I would if I could afford to go, then I would like Principality Stadium in Cardiff, but as I can't, I not worried.😢

    @Bovidae

    Agree.
The broadcasing rights are the key.
All the games will be in the best time zone.
Much better than if the series was in NZ.

I think the 96 series was a 3 match series.
The 96 season was interesting for another reason.
That year was the very first year of pro rugby.
There was a rugby war over the summer of 95-96, establishment v Kerry Packer, and there would have been a huge amount of bills to pay.
So the ABs played the Boks 5 times that year.
Won the first four and lost the last.
NZ going 4 in a row after the unfortunateness of 1995.

That's pretty much what I said. The first test on SA soil really should ve been part of the series as well. .. I consider it 3-1... That's where Fitzy was awarded the ridiculously oversized trophy (because Yanks can't do metric)

So it's the All Blacks tour of South Africa and Ireland then?

More and more indications that the 4th Test will take place at a "neutral venue". An utterly bizarre decision IMHO.

These days the "excellence" peaks during the Haka and then steadily declines until the final whistle is blown.

NZR think they are commercially savvy and down with the Kooool Kidz, but if they really are committed to making money and torching all traditions associated with the Black Jersey in doing so, they could sell a chance to join in the Haka to highest bidder. Plenty of rich types who'd fork out for that.

It will be twickenham unless it is unavailable for some reason.

High concentration of saffas and NZers in London make it a no brainer.

    And capacity

And potential 1 v 2 showdown for the neutral

    No brainer

Selfishly, I hope they bring a game to USA, they will sell out a huge stadium over here., if it is revenue they are after.

Don’t even think that’s selfish. They should play the game in NYC, with a full week buildup involving Yanks at every turn. Partner with whichever network has the RWC 31 broadcast rights. Get Snoopdog involved, the Rock & Mamoa. Play up Siya’s Boks embodying Mandela’s 95 dream: Invictus rematch rematch 32 Electric Boogaloo.

Promise to come back for the decider of every Greatest Rivalry Tour.

If it is a tour of South Africa, then the 4th Test must logically be in the Republic of South Africa.

Otherwise, if it's in London, Dublin, Los Angeles or Dubai, it should be seen as an extra game IMHO and not part of the tour proper.

I was thinking it could be aligned to the qatar cup. Saffas played wales for it last year.
