Our greatest player ever only managed 22 wins in 86 tests which REALLY surprised me.
We were seriously shit at cricket for a very long time.
Winning any tests at all was a bit af a miracle.
Until the 86 tester arrived.Gilchrist really did change the way test match cricket was played.

Paddles is our GOAT and I suspect he will still hold that mantle when KW retires albeit by a slim margin.
But given how many others have won off the top of my head I would have put his wins at 35-40 or so.
Again, Rose tinted glasses to some extent.

I get sooo much schadenfreude when the Aussies lose a big game.
Especially the girls; they are even more full of it than the guys.
Some more of that this weekend would be very nice.Good effort by India to turn us over - they were a long time between CWC victories in either format over Australia, England, South African, and even dud teams like NZ.
Couldn't last forever

Did you know today is 40 years since Sir Richard Hadlee MBE took 9/52 against Australia at the Gabba. He also took a catch to get the other wicket off the bowling of Vaughan Brown. He also scored 54 with the bat and ended up taking 15 wickets in the test match. It was New Zealand’s 1st test win on Australian soil. Sir Richard Hadlee ended up taking 33 wickets in the 3 match test series as NZ defeated Australia 2-1.
It is regarded as one of the greatest performances by a fast bowler.
Sir Richard Hadlee was named NZ sportsman of the 1980’s, sportsman of the year in 1980 and 1986 and was NZ joint sportsperson from 1962 to 1987 alongside legendary middle distance runner Sir John Walker.
Since he retired he has been NZ chairman of selectors, mentored fast bowlers and was part of the reformed Cricket NZ Board from 2013 to 2017. We will discuss Cricket NZ board reforms later this month.
Sir Richard Hadlee MBE is the greatest NZ cricketer of all time, their most influential person and his family is Cricket NZ most influential family in their 95 year history.

Love the fact that both the highest individual test innings and best bowling performance in Australia by a visiting team are both kiwis.
Ross Taylors 290 I'm assuming ? Woulda thought someone might have scored a cheeky 300 at some stage......
Will just tag @NTA so he notices.

Cheers. Good on him for getting so close. Better luck next time!
I seem to remember that Test as being one of the nails in the reputation of the WACA wicket as a bowler's paradise.

Yup that is correct, legendary innings from Roscoe
Not bad records for a dud team aye @NTA -
Cricket is a funny game.
That series vividly shows if you have one legend on top of his game, some very good players and the journeymen at least chip in a bit here and there then great things can happen.
Very similar to how England, Pakistan and India were reliant on Beefy, Imran and Kapil respectively.

Must admit I was confused there for a moment looking at those results from the most recent, first thought it was the last 5 years of All Blacks vs Wallabies results
