If the NZR are such nimwits that they don't have decent controls they should all resign or retire en masse.
If Razor had enough power to make them appoint him to a contract until the end of the RWC but he isn't really head coach then he should have the power to actually lead. On the other hand the contract might be contestable, they're employing him as head coach not an assistant.
I agree with Whitelock, they should build their teams after being appointed (I think that is what he wrote). -

Razor is banking on the Saders to be back to their best in 2025 and that there will be a few players making a breakout seasons. Just my thoughts. Saders are seldom as bad as 2024, and they still have a lot of developing players coming through with a point to prove.
This aged well! The AB coaches, not so much.

Still, to be fair, I was.

Sell, to be fair, I was.
7 championship wins in a row is a good record.
Losing 5 out of 6 internationals in a row is not.“We were not being coached well enough,” Whitelock wrote in his autobiography Samuel Whitelock: View from the Second Row. “We needed to change. I recognised that after the northern tour at the end of 2021, when we were well beaten by France and Ireland and, in my opinion, had prepared too many excuses for our under-performance."Is it a good read, his book? I like his perspective. But it sounds like none of Foster, the NZR, or Razor are the answer.

The team improved markedly once they got quality assistants.
The lesson, especially as it pertains to Schmidt, in my mind, is that we need to have at least one assistant who would be chased by international teams.
The successful AB coaching teams have had such talent.
Which raises the question: Would any of these assistants be a strong candidate for Australia? Scotland?

That's a fascinating article - confirms a lot of what has been suspected.
Mainly that Mark Robinson has a lot to answer for. That simpleton has singlehandedly ruined NZ rugby.
Shitty All Black, shitty CEO

Apparently Razor said he was going to head overseas so NZR bent over and signed him instead of letting him leave. That's looking increasingly like a poor decision

He always struck me as being a Ra Ra guy. But I assumed he actually coached his teams. Fire Hansen, install another assistant/HC to steady the ship

It's hard to think of a coach who has had so much goodwill going into the job and tanked it completely.

@Tim said in All Blacks 2025:
The Herald has spoken to several high-profile Kiwi coaches based overseas, who say that while they love their country and want teams in black to win on the world stage, they have no interest in coming home because they don’t believe the high-performance system is operating at best-practice levels, and they don’t trust NZR to consistently make good decisions around coaching and management appointments.
Some coaches have said they fear NZR has become dismissive of what it could learn and borrow from other countries and that it has shut itself off entirely from the rest of the world, which is partly why they say the All Blacks’ defensive and attacking patterns are outdated and ineffective.
Thats a grim, deflating read.
We are in trouble folks.

Ardie proving the fern wrong yet again
Beauden unlucky to miss out.
Has Savea even had a good season by his own standards?
I'll check his instagram
Has he still got that stupid pic of him sitting against the goalpost looking into the sky contemplating life after the England test?
I did it and went into the comments section of that pic on instagram ,
Most of it was along the lines of ,
if everyone tried as hard as him we wouldnt lose a game , or - this poor bugger busts his guts out every game, he deserves better
im probably not as anti Ardie as some on here , but I do think there is some serious delusional stuff going on with the general public
He has good parts to his game, but he's really starting to annoy me. He's playing for his own image and is playing like a glory hunter. He knows what he's doing.
i am not willing to go that far. To me he is a victim of a distinct lack of accountability. A hard nose coach in teh video session shows us losing that ruck on the line with him standing at first receiver and tells him if it happens again then someone will be found who will hit that ruck.
In the 2023 RWC Ardie played tight as shit. Hard carries, hit rucks, and we were so much better for it. He was given a job and did it. This coaching panel has decided the best use of him is for Ardie to do what he wants. The great unwashed only watch who has the ball anyway, so to them he's killing it (despite an enormously reduced effectiveness this year).
Hit a ruck you cat!!
I shudder at the thought of how the idiotic masses would view McCaw in this day and age...

Incidentally, my youngest son, himself an openside when he plays rugby, spent a couple of weeks going on every Ardie social media post he could find posting variations of "tiktok player, hit a ruck you cat" and reveling in the abuse he received in reply.
While i can't condone rage baiting randoms on social media, i thought that was fucking hilarious.
Why are you hacking your youngest son's social media?

Big trouble. We have Scott Hansen coaching the side with Razor doing the pilates side of things and have to tour the republic for 4 fucken tests next year!
One thing that really annoyed me about the 3 part Razor wankfest run by Jim Kayes was when he was extremely dismissive about getting experience overseas and said something along the lines of 'Why do i need overseas experience? I spent time over there as a player!' He lost me right there. Did he think he'd walk into international rugby thinking the opposition was the same level as the Waratahs and Force or something?

@Tim I think I am going to vom
But Robertson’s vision was never for him to undertake the tasks that most would agree constitute the role of head coach – setting the overall playing vision for the team and then overseeing the delivery of that plan.
Instead, Robertson pitched himself as a culture coach, responsible for theming campaigns, communicating one-on-one with players to manage their expectations and career progression. -

Is this not just a hangover from the glory days when the abs were dominant? (Circa 2016 or so) The expectation became that they win every match and when that doesn’t happen, people start screaming for the coaches head. It’s not realistic to think the abs will always be the best team in the world. Historically that wasn’t true, and won’t be for any team. They are a tweak away from being #1 again but people are calling for the whole organization to be replaced.
It’s disrespectful to the other teams in world rugby.
Y’all give yourselves an uppercut. -

@W32 sounds like a great idea to go back to Jake White for you guys, agree wholeheartedly. As long as SAXIV remains 2nd in the rankings.
Jake Whites boks were #1 in the world when he resigned. It was Allister Coetzee who was replaced halfway through his tenure. I think the boks were …#5 in the world at that point.
Your paranoia is kinda making my point
Edit they were 7th.
